For fun: how are your other kids handling your pregnancy?

Since we found out the sex my son acts like I need to be in a bubble. He's also trying to " be helpful" which is usually the opposite lol.

The best was last week when I wanted to go rollerblading with him and he just looked at me horrified

" But if you fall you'll squish my sister !!!"

Anyone else got cute future big brother/big sister stories?

Re: For fun: how are your other kids handling your pregnancy?

  • My boys are 21 and 15 so nothing cute. My oldest was so happy for me, my youngest doesn't like babies, he calls it the parasite. Uneventful around here.

  • My daughter is only 2.5 so she only remembers half the time. She's still nursing so I have to remind her to be gentle with my belly and then she's all "oops sorry baby!" And then talks about how she will have to share her mama milk and toys with the baby. Sometimes she tells me she had a baby in her belly.

Oh and if she is sitting on me and my stomach growls or I let out a fart she says it's the baby talking to her. Haha.

  • My 16 month old points to everyone's stomach and says "babe? Babe? Baby?"
  • My 3 year old was trying to look in my belly button last night to see the baby. I think that's the cutest thing. He's a typical rough and tumble little dude but around my belly he's always saying, "we have to be gentle," or "don't hurt my baby." He'll be an awesome big brother!
  • My 4 year old asks if the baby is big enough to come out and play almost everyday.  My 2 year old on the other hand has decided that it is her baby and no one can say otherwise.

This is similar to my daughter, who is almost 2.5. She apologizes if she hits my belly, and she sometimes likes to kiss my belly, which is cute. If we drive by the hospital, I explain that that's where we'll go to get the baby out, and she says, "And then I can hold it?"

Saturday was funny - H and I were going to a college football game at night, so DD had a babysitter. In the afternoon, we started telling her a babysitter was coming, and she became convinced I was saying "baby sister." It took many times of going back over the details to convince her that we were not, in fact, going to the hospital to give birth.

  • My 7 year old loves to say goodbye or goodnight to the baby. He wants a baby sister.

My 4 year old doesn't really say anything about the baby. He could care less but when asked what he wants he says "a baby brother sister".

    My one year doesn't understand.

  • I think DS is a little bit in denial. He'll be 2 and a half in January, so he understands that there's a baby, and if you ask him what's in Mommy's tummy he'll say, "Baby!" but he's started referring to himself as a baby, as if him going back to being a baby will keep the new one from coming.

  • My 9 year old goes online every day to see what information he can find about the baby that day. He is super helpful and very excited just like he was 5 years ago with his brother.
My youngest will be 4 a couple days before Christmas and is mixed up. One day he is having a baby in his belly like mommy. The next he does not want a baby. The next he is adiment it must be a boy because a sister will drink all the water and eat all the food... Lol. The next he wants to know why I ate a baby. I love how his little brain try's to wrap around this.
  • My daughter is nearly 2 and seems to love the idea of a baby. She likes to pet my belly and kiss it. It is HER baby. She also always wants to know if we are going to the baby doctor (obgyn).
  • My 6yr old son is very excited.
My 3yr old daughter is apprehensive, and I think confused by the whole process. But...once the baby is here, she may change her tune.
  • My 19 month old will pick up my shirt just to kiss my tummy. If you just ask where baby is he will pick up his own shirt and point to his stomach, so he doesn't fully understand. But he us very excited to have a baby around, for now.

  • My girls are both excited.  They kiss my stomach and say hello and goodnight to the baby all the time.

My 7 year old wants a baby brother but she will be over the moon with either a boy or a girl.  She always asks me what fruit the baby is.

My 4 year old keeps asking me when I am going to say "The baby is coming! The baby is coming!"  I have been having an issue with pulling muscles in my leg.  She keeps getting sympathy muscle pain.  The other day she said hers felt better because she "pushed it back in".
She wants nothing to do with a brother and says she will not hold it or love it if its a boy.

  • My 15 year old walks out of the room when you mention twins. I don't think he is taking it that well. But he is excited at the thought that I could possibly go on bed rest and he would be able to the driving for me.

Due May 2015 with twin GIRLS!

  • My daughter is 3, and my H has been putting her to bed more often lately because I've been so tired.  One night I told her that I was resting because G-d was making a baby in my tummy (I don't like to say I'm the one making the baby because we are religious and that sounds wrong to me).  A few nights later my H put her to bed, and later she called for him and I came in, and she said, "Mommy?  Are you not resting?  Because you're making a baby with G-d?"

It was very sweet and cute but came out a little awkward!!

  • My 4 year old is 110% on board and in love with this baby already.  My 5 year old is a little apprehensive about the whole situation, but I think she is warming up to it.

But, oh boy the questions I am getting..."How will we know if the baby is a boy or a girl if it's not wearing any clothes when it comes out?"  Was our lunch conversation the other day.  Now my 4 thinks it's hilarious that the baby is naked in there.  She rubs my belly and says,"Hi naked baby!".

~Mama to two daughters and baby #3 coming soon~
  • My 4yo tells me he is so excited and loves the baby. He says it's a girl named Audrey... He then followed up with, "does it have a peanut?". It really is sweet how excited he is to help out :)
  • My 22 month old DD doesn't quite get it. I told her the other night that there's a baby in my belly and she proceeded to lift up my shirt and say "I wanna have it."  I think she was convinced I had stuffed one of her baby dolls in there.  I had a good laugh with that one.

  • My 2.5 yo is SO excited for the baby. She calls my belly "the sister or the brother". But if you ask her, it's definitely a sister (we have no idea what the sex is yet-but I'm also thinking girl) and her name is Madison (she overhead DH & I thinking of like 100 names and that's what she picked). She kisses my belly goodnight and if DH just gives me a kiss, she tells him "don't forget the sister or the brother". It's so cute
  • Both of my kids are super excited. They always touch and kiss my belly. When they say hi and bye to me they say hi and bye to the baby too. They always say they wish the baby was here already and ask if the baby is big enough to come out yet.

  • My 15 year old stepson swore when we told him he was getting a new sister and stomped out of the room. My 11 year old son is rather indifferent. But my 5 year old daughter is just over the moon about getting a little baby sister. She hugs and kisses my belly everyday and is constantly talking about Ella. She also tries to feed me food "for the baby." She's very doting. It's adorable.

  • My 8 year old daughter could care less, but she does take care of me when I don't feel well. She's also in the middle of some serious 3rd grader attitude problems.

My 5 y.o. girl loves to poke my belly and the doc even let her use the Doppler to find the HB at the last appt. She asks what he's doing... And she's starting to ask questions about where babies come from and that's pretty great. She knows it comes out of a vagina and that baby's head squishes really small to fit (which is why we are so careful with babies) so then she asked grandma if he will come out wet or dry. I love the little kid questions.

I was thinking the same thing about my 19 month old. His favorite activity is trying to jump on my belly when I tell him there's a baby in there.
  • My 6 year old said, you gotta be kidding another one? It better be a sister! He has only 1 little brother..but he is apparently more than he can handle. Lol.
  • My kids could care less. My daughter is 5 and is like "Meh. Been through this before. Can't get any worse, but is my baby sister in there?" We tell her it could be a boy because we don't know yet.
My son is 2 and it barely registers on his rader that mommy is having another baby. As long as he can continuously steal his sister tablet and play games all is good.
