January 2013 Moms

Thanksgiving food!

Thanksgiving is almost only a week away. What food are you most looking forward to? Do you have to cook?

I am most looking forward to my mom's stuffing. It's my favorite. We alternate years spending Thanksgiving with my in-laws and my family. This year is my family's turn. So pumped!!! I have to say, I like my mom's cooking so much better.

I am making all of the pies---1 apple and 2 pumpkin. Might also find something Gluten-free and dairy free to make for my cousin's new wife too.

Re: Thanksgiving food!

  • I'm hosting my parents and sister so it'll be small. I'm so excited to make the turkey! I'm also making sweet potato and cauliflower fritters, mashed potatoes, pumpkin and apple pies, and maybe some other casserole or bread. My mom is bringing her famous dinner rolls, cheesecake, and cornbread casserole, all of which Amelia and I cannot eat. But, they're my sister's fave and it's her birthday so I don't care. ;-) Oh, and stuffing. Haha. I'm gonna die.

We switch on and off with out families. When I'm with mine, my mom and and I cook together and I love it. Unfortunately we're at DHs family this year and my MIL doesn't want any help. She's not a good cook or anything. Everything comes from a can and is covered in condensed soup. It will be us, his mom, his step dad, and his alcoholic uncle. And I can't even drink to numb the pain. Pray for me ladies.

Sorry that was such a bummer post! I just hate these years. But next year when baby #2 is around we'll be with my family for his/her first thanksgiving so it will be worth it in the end!

In other news, I'm so thankful for all of you! Your kindness and friendship and a place where I can unabashedly bitch about my in laws.

Amen! I will drink wine in your honor:)

We are hosting this year, and my best friend is coming from DC to celebrate with us. My parents, brother and SIL, BIL and their baby will be here as well.

Between us women, we are making a turkey, mashed regular and sweet potatoes, stuffing, cornbread soufflé, rolls, pies and tons of wine.

    Can't wait!
Our little Samosa arrives in January!
