As a kid, I went back and forth between wanting to be a teacher, and wanting to be a mom. In 2.5 weeks (at the latest) I will be both! Happily part of the 6%!
God I gave up my ultimate dream job a year ago to move home and have babies. I decided I would regret not having a family over professional success. Im hoping by some miracle I get another shot.
I have always wanted to illustrate a kids book. I have started a few times but i lose interest pretty quickly. I think if I just quickly sketched out like one really crappy one a week, they would eventually stop being crappy....haha.
As a kid I wanted to be a veterinarian.. But then I realized as I got older that it was not all happy events there are some really though aspects of that so I gave that up.. I do however work my dream job of my adult life.. I am a corporate security investigator for a major bank and I LOVE it!!
I love that we have so many people who are working their dream jobs or love the jobs that they have.
I'm working towards my dream right now which is nursing. There is a part of me (the type A part) which makes me wonder if I'll be satisfied in that role. We'll see!

I had a couple dream jobs when I was little. I danced from the time I was 3 until I was 18 so obviously I wanted to be a prima ballerina, then I realized that those odds were really against me, but I still dance to this day because I love it.
Now I'd really love to find my niche in the biology community. Everything about biology just fascinates me. I'm known as the bio nerd in our house lol. Just not sure exactly where to focus my studies when I go back to school.
My passion is still midwifery. I started a program during my third pregnancy, but ended up having to put it on pause. It's not feasible while my kids are still young, so it's something I'll likely pursue when they're older.
But outside that, if I could snap my fingers or had a fairy godmother, I'd be a philosophy or comparative religion professor (PhD). It's my field of study, and while I can teach with an MA, it would be an adjunct position or at the community college level. Studying religion (theology/divinity at first) and philosophy were my "first loves," and have remained so for many years. It only made sense to continue down that path.

I decided I wanted to be an environmental engineer when I was 11. And that's what I do for a living, so I guess I'm part of the 6%. I loved my studies (I have a B.S. and an M.S.) and I enjoy what I do. But I also work part-time as a math tutor for high school and college students. I love working with my kids as well, but I could never be a teacher because I can only handle teenagers one-on-one or in small groups.
I always wanted to be a window display designer- like the kind you see at Macy's at Christmas... I work for a large popular retailer and had my time doing some merchandising management, but have transitioned to HR... people will always be crazy so I guess that is great job insurance.
I wanted to play in a professional orchestra, recording movie scores something. I played a lot as a kid and throughout high school but quit when I got to college. I wasn't nearly good enough anyway. Now I'm in law school, but it's what my dad did so it was always in the back of my mind
I wanted to be a doctor, but decided it was a lot of school and would involve possibly long days. I did stick in the health care field and am a physical therapist! Close enough for me!
My dream job has changed a couple of times over the years, with the desired outcome being to help people. Becoming a mother has always been my first priority though, so I'll be working my dream job soon ;-) I have nearly a bachelors degree in music, as I was initially intending to be a college professor, but I ended up changing my major to Psychology and then completed a 60 credit masters program to become a clinical mental health counselor. My last position held was as a crisis intervention therapist and it was wonderful! It was incredibly stressful and fast-paced, but I got the opportunity to work with seriously mentally ill children and their families--the worst part of the job was having to hospitalize a kid though :-( I ended up having to quit my job at the beginning of the third trimester due to being physically assaulted by a client--my husband freaked, and I turned in my notice the next day! I won't be going back to work full time I to after all of our children (future, I will be a FTM) have completed high school, but I intend to start teaching at the community college part-time just to get out of the house, and perhaps volunteer as a counselor at a local church/charity. Once my kiddos are a bit older, I will start teaching piano and voice lessons out of my home as well :-)
I have always wanted to be a professional make up artist. I would love to work for a bridal magazine. Maybe write some skin care and beauty articles. I have my license in esthetics but there is a shortage of jobs here. That would be the dream.

I always wanted to be a mom and have a farm. I want to breed and train horses. Have chickens ducks goats cows. A giant beautiful garden and orchard and lots of land. Maybe one day. When i was a kid i also dreamed of being in the olympics for equestrian sports. I also always wanted to be a successful artist, i love painting and photography.

I bounced around a few ideas when I was a kid, but I always knew those things were at the very least in addition to being a mom. I never imagined myself as an adult without kids and I am very happy being a SAHM as long as finances allow.
