Extreme Nausea

Ok so with DS I never felt any nausea and this morning I am fighting back the urge to run to the bathroom. I ate a bananna this morning for breakfast and I don't know if eating helps or makes it worse.

Do any of you ladies have any tricks to help curb the nausea??

Re: Extreme Nausea

  • I didn't have nausea with DD1 but I did with DD2. FI gets nausea with migraines, so I ended up taking his zofran. Iced ginger peach tea did help me a bit too, and I made sure not to let myself get too hungry or too full.

  • Mine wasn't very bad with either boy - but jolly ranchers helped a lot when it did hit me

  • Jolly ranchers helped me too. Actually, having any kind of candy or gum in my mouth usually helped decrease the nausea.

  • Thanks ladies! 2nd question: Do you think there is any truth to your symptoms relating to the sex of your baby?

    DS= no nausa

    Baby 2= nausa= girl?

:D  Just playing, I know you can have different pregancies for different babies but it's fun to think about.

  • Mine was worse with DS - not in terms of actual throwing up, but just the nausea.  Actual puking was about the same.

Ginger was a help for me.  Trader Joe's Triple Ginger Cookies were great.  If you can get your hands on some Zofran, I say do it.

  • Zofran and never letting my stomach get too empty. I kept crackers in the bedroom and in my purse/diaper bag and snacked. And it was always worse at night for me, so I tried to just chill on the couch and not have to do too much.

  • I had basically no nauseau with DS. And I lost 7 lbs with DD in my first tri because I felt so gross. So maybe a good theory, but again, each pregnancy is always different. I think with him I could never drink enough milk. With her I constantly wanted watermelon.

  • Zofran is the bees knees!
  • I'm feeling awful with this pregnancy, we did a 4hr drive today and I sucked on preggie pops the entire way, kept my eyes closed as much as possible, and buried my head into a pile of coats. Laying down usually helps me. And I have a prescription for diclectin if I need it. I had NOTHING with DS, I felt great most of the pregnancy (the end I was miserable, but beginning was great).

  • I had no nausea with DD1 but pretty bad nausea with DD2. Also wanted all the fruit with DD1 and greasy food with DD2 haha.

  • Almost no nausea with DD1, moderate nausea for about 6 weeks with DD2. Everyone kept saying DD2 would be a boy since my symptoms were different, but nope.

BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

  • Peppermints. Lots of them. I'm not sure why, but they really helped me to feel better.

  • Ginger people ginger chews candy

Soup, especially hot and sour soup like tom yum (which also has ginger)

Somewhere I heard that eating a couple of plain crackers before you even get out of bed helps? I tried it and I can't say that it worked for me.

Magnesium oil topically is supposed to help. It is good for muscle tension too (I can vouch for this) It is a little itchy when you first apply it. If I have nausea with my next pregnancy I am trying this. I didn't know about it until later with DD.

  • I had to do Zofran with this pregnancy because I was at home with a toddler and I wouldn't have been able to function without it.
