Cloth Diapering

covers

I love love love my RaR covers (did I say I love them) however I am becoming victim of the small fitting cover. His night time fitted with 2 hemp inserts is bulky but I'm less concerned about the bulk. As I write this I now remember I forgot to put the fleece liner on him. Shoot he won't be happy with me later.

For night time the cover is unsnapped on the rise and second last waist snap. Soooo not a lot of room left to grow as he's only 6 months.

Any suggestions for a large fitting cover? Bonus points for less expensive covers.

I'm contemplating switching to wool but I have no idea if a medium would be better or if a large would be too big right now. And I don't know if I want to do wool. But I'm trying to be open.

Anyway. Sorry for the ramble. Thank you!

  • It's hard to see, but the Nicki's is bigger with a wider cut for the hips.

My blueberry covers are dirty and in use at the moment. But these are the two covers I use for my fitteds.

  • Thanks! I have an unfinished wool cover in the basement. I really should finish it and try that as well.

But the prospect of sewing ... I almost threw my machine out the window the other day. Maybe we can turn over a new leaf.

I'll look up Blueberry covers :)
  • I also use wool at night, and as others have said, it doesn't have to be tight on the legs to avoid leaks. Our cover is sized 15-30 lbs and my LO is just 15 lbs, so it's a bit bulky on him and loose at the legs. We use a large snappi'd prefold with a pad folded flat as a doubler. He normally wears medium prefolds, so the extra fabric and doubler make it extra bulky, but no leaks, even with the cover being a bit loose at the legs.

  • I love my blueberry covers. I haven't tried nickis, though.

  • Blueberry for lyfe!!

I do like Sweet Pea as a good, cheaper alternative though.  For me my Nicki's are too skinny in the crotch to cover our bulky ON fitteds.

  • Another Blueberry Coverall lover here.  Not cheap, but the good news is that they shouldn't really outgrow it....ever, since it seems to be (one of?) the largest option out there.  I also have a Nicki's and while I like it and it's a large cover, I don't love it as much as my Blueberries.

  • @CLLDLL‌ do you find your Nicki's cover to be really wide in the butt and really narrow from between the legs to the front - is that what you meant by narrow through the crotch? I'm not sure if I have the rise setting too short for it or what but I figured a Nicki's cover would work with a Nicki's snapless fitted, but I couldn't get the cover to cover the fitted.

  • I always unbutton my covers all the way for fitteds.

And I'm never concerned about getting 100% coverage. Unless he soaks his fitted it usually doesn't leak if a small edge us showing.

@PipSqueak0313   Yes, that's exactly what I meant. You just describe it better!  G is on the largest rise setting, and I always have fitted peaking out near the inside of his legs.  I do like them over flats though.

  • Wow! I have some coveralls from my daughter that are three years old. They've been sunned, bleached, you name it and still going strong!

  • Hard water can definitely make regular laundry wear out faster so I bet it can wear out pul. I would be super grouchy if I had three delaminate.

  • Loving my Nickis covers. We use them over prefolds and charcoal bamboo inserts (I double them up). Economical, fits well, and cure. :)
