Castor oil

My OB reccommended that I try castor oils to induce. Has anyone done it? I mixed 2tbsps with 4oz of coke and downed it 5 min ago!!! I am a little nervous! Baby is big, it's my 2nd baby and I was medically induced the 1st time and DONT want that at all!

    I haven't but I have friends who have and some say it worked others say it didn't.. just be prepared because it is a laxative... hope it works!

    Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! Unless you want to be ill in the bathroom for hours and hours beforehand...

    I've heard some swear by it. Personally, I'm a little too scared. I go to the bathroom a lot as it is, I don't need any help in that area ... Let us know how it works out! LOL

    It works for some and not others, much like anything used to induce. You may get interesting "effects" or you may not get much or minimal.

    I had minimal "effects" when we induced with #4. They were short lived and no big deal, and it worked. My body was definitely ready. There *is* a mechanism involved and research to support this mechanism, but its effects are a drawback for many.

    No advice, but all I can think is "castro" oil now. :-)

    Well it's been 5 hours and nothing. I had a couple of gurgling noises but that's it. I just took another 2 tbsp.

    I did wit my second child! It worked....now at 38 weeks I'm tempted to try again.....

    I really don't want pitocin!!!! It was horrible!!! I just asked and he told me to take Evening Primrose Oil and drink Raspberry Leaf Tea... Then a week later try the castor oil!!!! But still nothing!! Ugh!!!

    I started the EPO and RLT last Monday. I was checked Thursday and was 1.5cm and 50% effaced!!! He told me to try the Castor oil today, bc I have an US and see him tomorrow.

    I still haven't had any effects :( but everything that I have read it takes quite a while. So maybe in the morning. I am not taking anymore.... Not that brave!!!

    My baby has been measuring "ahead" in size for months now. I'm 39+2 - which means to me she's still not ready to come out for one reason or another. A baby measuring big does not make them full term sooner.... I couldn't imagine trying to get my baby out before full term unless there was a medical reason for it.

    I have high bp and that's why I am trying to induce on my own, I go tomorrow to schedule my induction. That's the reason why... I had my 1st at 37wks for the same exact reason... I was just trying everything I could to avoid the pitocin... But it look like I am going to have it anyway...

    Trust me if I didn't have high bp I wouldn't even be thinking this...

    As for the reason why I am posting in this group... It's the group that popped up in my app...
