Grrrr...(Breast Pump Coverage)

So I called my insurance today to see about getting a new breast pump.  I didn't know that I was only eligible to get one every three years; since I got my first one last year, it would be denied if it was billed as a breast pump.  The rep said I could call the suppliers and ask if they would bill it against my "durable medical equipment" coverage, because then I could get it for free.  Has anyone done this successfully?  Otherwise, looks like DH will be taking it apart after all to check for mold...he was hoping to avoid that.

Re: Grrrr...(Breast Pump Coverage)

  • My insurance is "grandfathered" into not having to give me one. So annoying. FWIW my H took ours apart and cleaned it all up and it works good as new now.

  • All I can say is be careful. I've fought with mine because the supplier is "out of network", but its through the company they told be to order from. Ot was very very frustrating

  • I haven't dealt with it under durable medical equipment but with my Feb baby you couldn't get one until after your baby was born and then they had to order it so it took another week to come in. I guess that works in most cases but Sarah was in the NICU so I ended up renting on from a medical supply company so I could pump while I was not able to be with her. Then the one that they sent hurt(I never could get it adjusted correctly?) so I ended up buying a medela one.....overall bad experience :-(
    Good luck!
