I don't want to say horrible but... (Intro)

Hey ladies,

Thought it was time to intro over here, let me know if I'm not in the right place.  I usually play around on PAL and Working Moms and have spent some time over on TTTCAS.  Since we just got back DH's sperm analysis were the Doc said and I quote, "I don't want to say it is horrible, but it is horrible."  I figured it was about time.

Little about us... Me 28, DH 29, DD 2.5.  I don't have spell check at work, so I apologize in advance and it is going to take a miracle to fix my siggy (any help on that front would be appreciated). My DH is an Marine but is getting out this month and starting school on the path of becoming a lawyer.  I work for the Department of Defense as a Victim Advocate for Marines and their family members who have been sexually assaulted. We became pregnant the 1st go around on the 2nd month of trying.  That ended with a Blighted Ovum and a D&C.  We took a few months off since DH was in training and gone, and then we got pregnant with DD when DH was home on leave for 10 days.

We decided to start trying for #2 a year ago and month after month went by with nothing.  Finally started the slow process of testing.  All my bloodwork has come back normal so far, charts showing normal cycles and ovulation.  Then we got the great results of DH's first SA.  To sum it up he is right at 1.5 mil for volume (at the lowest it can be to still be considered "normal").  The big issue is his motility.  Only 2% are swimming forward. We have an appointment with an RE in 2 weeks after I finish this cycle and he has a follow up with an Urologist as well.  I'm hoping that the crappy numbers are from the meds he is on, since that is the only thing that has changed since we concieved the first go around.

Anyone have any experience with MFI caused by meds?  The Doctor thinks it might be his SSRI (Zoloft he is taking), but we won't know for sure until we get further into things.

Re: I don't want to say horrible but... (Intro)

  • Welcome! I'm new too and also here because of Male Factor issues. In our case, H has zero sperm (in his first SA anyway). We also have a 2.5 year old daughter who was conceived with relative ease so it is all a bit disconcerting to say the least. I don't have any words of wisdom as we're also waiting for our urology appointment and further testing but just wanted to say that you certainly aren't alone and there is a lot of support to be found on this board!
  • I'm pretty new here, too, but welcome!
