What Birth Control Do You Use? Looking For Safe Option

I just had my second baby in September, and REALLY don't want to get pregnant again - at least not in the near future. I have never been on any birth control before....mainly because I am against anything fake in my body supplying hormones. But, right now I am a little scared because my husband and I recently engaged in some sexual activity (not intercourse - rubbing of his penis against my clitoris - sorry for the tmi), and although seemingly impossible, I am so nervous that I am pregnant from this. It was just a week ago, so I will be testing soon to see if I am. It happened 2 weeks after I stopped breastfeeding...so I know I could still ovulate without a period and get pregnant. Anyhow, I'm a nervous wreck and really hope I am not pregnant. He never came on me or anything....but you never know. For this reason, I want to get on some kind of birth control, but have heard negative things about almost all options. For example, I was considering Mirena, and now there's a law suit because various women have had to get surgery to get it removed bc it gets stuck. The pill increases chance of breast cancer, and makes you gain weight...etc.

I'm curious to know what your preference in birth control is, and what your experience has been with it? Hopefully, this way I can make a decision soon.

Thank you all for your input!

Yeah, you're not pregnant. No offence but I'm side eying that entire paragraph. Just wow.

I know it may seem like a really dumb thing to think....I'm just all worked up bc A) my second baby I just had was not planned....even tho we did want to eventually try for #2....he certainly came earlier. And B) I know someone who got pregnant with no penetration. Her husband ejaculated on her lady parts, and somehow it seeped down and into the vagina. 9 months later....baby. As I stated before, my husband did not ejaculate on me....but there is always pre-cum...and pre-cum was the culprit for my second baby. So, to the me before I got pregnant with #2, and before my friend got pregnant without penetration....this would sound completely insane too. But, bc of what I now know and lived...I'm traumatized and nervous....even if it sound crazy as hell to others. It sucks!

  • Dude, you're not pregnant. Come on now

Talk to your doctor about birth control. I've never been overly thrilled with the options either. It seems like there's cons to everything. We used barrier methods successfully (mostly diaphragm, sometimes condoms) between my two pregnancies. I knew I didn't want more than two kids so I've had a tubal ligation, which I'm psyched about.
Thanks for this. Yeah, I didn't want my tubes tied bc my mom did it after she had my brother at only 37, and right after she started menopause. It really sent the wrong msg to her body, and her hormones took a hike and left her stranded in the land of hot flashes and terrible mood swings. Very early menopause. I am only 30, but just in case I didn't want to go thru with it. Plus, my husband and I always talked about him getting a vasectomy instead. But, for now I think I am going to get my birth control on. Not sure what....but something.
