Traveling and naps

FTM here who will be taking our first trip with baby at Christmas.  We are just going to San Antonio for 3 days (its a 5 hour drive from Dallas) so I am not worried about getting there, but I am worried about keeping a schedule when we are there.  We will be able to keep him on his feeding schedule, that is easy enough to do on the go.  But what do you do about naps?  We will be out and about a lot.  We will have the stroller so he can sleep in his carrier, but how to you maintain a schedule like that?  I know he will fall asleep if he gets tired enough, but I am worried about his being grumpy because I am sure he will not take his usual naps and I don't want to have to keep running back to the hotel and sitting while he naps.

  • So hard to keep a schedule when visiting ppl and not in your own home. I say go with it! Try your best to accommodate but try not to be so stressed about it. Like pp said use the carrier, stroller, car seat, PnP.

My problem isn't putting LO down for naps but keeping him down for a long enough time so he's happy when he wakes up.

  • We just do the best we can when traveling or out and about. Usually I'll wear him and he'll look around until he's tired then fall asleep. He'll sometimes sleep in the car seat too. We haven't taken him in the stroller much but DD napped well there when younger.
