QOTW: How do you pay for your IF stuff? Ins? Savings? Both? Credit Card? Etc?
Edit to add the following note: If you would like to be included in KUFMO, please be sure to respond to this post on a regular basis. Our former KUFMO ladies were super sleuthing, mind readers who always knew what was up.
@potatocastillo, however, has asked me to add a little note requesting that you all provide your updates here. As amazing as she is at a whole lot of things, mind reading and sleuthing aren't her specialties. Thanks!

First time through we paid for IVF with money from my bonus money (I worked my tail off in 2010 to get a big bonus at year end). Now we have better insurance coverage but we are paying the difference from our savings.

QOTW: How do you pay for your IF stuff? Ins? Savings? Both? Credit Card? Etc?
The testing phase is covered by our provincial health insurance but all treatments are OOP (although we do have coverage for any drugs needed thankfully). Our government has promised to fund 1 cycle of IVF for all infertile couples next year so hopefully we can avail ourselves of that if we need to. Other than that, we will use savings and my in-laws will help us out as well (blessed over here).
Though we found not all testing was covered. We had to pay for SA, vitamin D test and something else.
I read that the one free IVF will cover the first and all subsequent FET from that same retrieval. I know they are still hammering out the details though.
DS #1: April 2010
DS #2: July 2015 (preemie born at 31 weeks) - our little miracle conceived through ART - unexplained secondary infertility/adenomyosis
QOTW: OOP however we can. We don't have a credit card though.
Rainbow Surprise Baby due 05/26/2017
Did your H have the more "indepth" SA? The basic is OHIP covered but the Krueger SA isn't covered. We got to skip that one since H currently has no sperm to look more "deeply" at.
You're right about the subsequent FETs being covered as well. I wish they would hurry up and work out all the details. Although, honestly, I'm just happy that the potential is there for one free cycle despite my inability to be patient about anything!
QOTW: insurance--another mandatory coverage state, here.

DS #2: July 2015 (preemie born at 31 weeks) - our little miracle conceived through ART - unexplained secondary infertility/adenomyosis
QOTW: our insurance covers everything but the actual IVF procedure and FET. I am thinking of begging the RE to get them to bill our insurance company to see if we can recover any funds since we have spent so much there this year. For our first IVF 3 years ago we spent our savings. This time we did partial out of savings and the majority on a credit card.

SAIF Always Welcome
QOTW: We are completely OOP for all things infertility. So, money has been coming from our savings. Our savings are now fully depleted after 6 fresh IVF cycles, an IUI cycle, multiple TI cycles and a boatload of testing.
~SAIF/PAIF/Everyone Welcome~

This is cycle 36 since our miscarriage. I am now CD 6. I am doing Gonal F injections and will have an U/S tomorrow to look for follicles. When ready, I’ll be doing an HCG shot to trigger and then an IUI—(same as last cycle). This will be our fourth IUI. I have also started seeing an acupuncturist who specializes in infertility. Fingers crossed that something happens this month. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
My insurance covers a portion of the costs of the fertility treatments. I am paying for the rest out of my savings. This cycle and the last one also included Gonal F, insurance covered part of that, but these have been our most expensive cycles so far.
Cycle 24, cycle 4 TTCAL. CD 2 today and going in for CD 3 blood work tomorrow. Nothing else exciting. Just trying not to bleed to death with AF and blood thinner. Okay, that's a little dramatic but this garbage is gross.
QOTW: Well my delivery and testing took care of my deductible but I'm still not at my crazy OOP maximum yet, so all medical stuff including fertility related stuff is a combo of insurance and savings.
October 2011 - DS (7)
July 2014 - Stillborn DD (24 weeks)
August 2015 - DD (3)
April 2018 - 5 week loss
Moving the weekend of Thanksgiving to the new state and temporary housing, a cottage. And then to our new more permanent rental home in January.
Hoping my December holiday present is the ODWU for IVF/ICSI #4 since that is all I want.
QOTW: All 100% OOP. We maxed out all of our savings with the 3 previous IVF cycles and one FET plus D & C surgery that was not covered and then of course, testing and 2 PESA's. It is pretty disgusting when you see it all. I envy those of you with any coverage.
