Stitch - like Pains in Side and under belly

I left a message for the phone nurse, but I am wondering if any of you have had this and what you did.

I am having sharp pain on my left side and wrapping under my belly (33+2 weeks). I can closest relate it to a constant stitch like you get from running. I've had it going on a half hour, and it is now wrapping around to my back. No bleedkng, leaking, or increased discharge. Does not feel like I am having contractions with it.

Wondering if I should use ice, heat, or both to treat? Laying down with some hot cider and a heating pad right now. Giving it 20 min to go away (been 40 min already,) or calling the nurse back.

  • @nursesouder‌ I am going to try a bath when my husband gets home from work in twenty minutes, my three year old son is being particularly needy right now (of course ) It's been about an hour and is starting to calm with the heating pad. Thank you.

  • Heating pad has helped. Without contractions, extreme pressure, or low back pain, the nurse thinks it's muscle or ligaments. Tylenol, heat, and rest. She also recommended getting a support belt. Going shopping after work tomorrow - too snowy to go now.
  • Yep I get this alllll the time on my left side. Ligaments! Heat helps. As does Tylenol.

  • I've been getting pain like this too off and on. Today is started when I coughed and took forever to go away. No fun! Glad the heat helped you. I don't remember this from my first pregnancy but I guess every one is different. Hope you're feeling better!

  • Sounds like the round ligament pains that I have been getting a lot this pregnancy.  The doctor says they are common and she is not concerned.  Hope you are feeling better!
  • I had this a couple weeks ago.  I was concerned so my doctor had me come in- everything checked out fine- she said it was most likely ligament pain, or just the baby hitting a nerve or something.  I took a bath and put a heating pad on it and it was gone by the next day.
