Changed breast feeding position and now green poop

My LO is 5 weeks old. He has had green frothy poop for a week so Im afraid he is getting too much foremilk. He has also been increasingly gassy and will pause in between feeding for 30 mins to work out some gas. I have an oversupply/forceful letdown issue that we've been managing since my milk came in with one sided feedings, frequent burping, and removing baby during let downs. Its been working and he has had mustard colored seedy poop until this green business started. oddly, the new poop pattern began when i switched breast feeding positions to laid back. I thought this would help the forceful letdown even more and has also been a lot easier and more comfortable for both of us. Im confused. Can changing positions cause him to get only foremilk? Any thoughts?

  • I also have OALD and did everything you have been doing. DS had random green poops for a few days every couple weeks. Normally his first morning poop was green and it would taper to yellow by the end of the day.

I discussed with our pedi and she wasn't concerned unless I saw blood in the diaper.

  • DD had green poo at that age too. I thought I might have an OALD too and I think sometimes I do depending if I am engorged or not. I spoke with the pedi about it and he said that some green poo is normal, as the body is still getting used to processing BM etc etc. He said if there are large amounts of mucous or blood that is a red flag.
