Pregnant after a Loss

What is the best way to find in-home daycare?

Has anyone searched for in-home daycare? Do you have any recommendations on how to conduct the search?

Location is key for us since DH and I work in opposite directions of our house and we will both need to be able to pick up/drop off our son. I have only been able to find one daycare center that is located in the general vicinity of our house. Since I can only find one, we would like to explore other options too and check out some in-home caregivers. But, I can't seem to find any! DH and I haven't lived here that long and none of our friends really have kids, so I don't know anyone that can recommend any daycare centers/in-home daycares. Are there any websites that you use?

TIA! I really appreciate any advice!

  • Check your state's child services website. I know mine maintains a listing of all licensed daycare providers online, both centers and inhome. This does leave out those who provide inhome care but are not certified, but at least it's a starting point.

  • Loading the player...
  • I looked at our county website. You can search for licensed providers in the zip code, and ours showed a make for 1-2mile radius.

Or call the county and ask- they would have a list somewhere.

  • oops that should have said map not make.
  • Our state has a childcare resource and referral site. Maybe you could google it for your state???
  • Thanks ladies! I just found a child care referral service for the state of Idaho. I had no clue that even existed. I'll check that out.
  • I found ours through friends that use her too, but I've also had friends tht looked on Craigs list too.  GL!!
