3rd Trimester

39+3 and no signs of labor

I know they say there is really no telling when the baby will decide to come out but Im starting to get really nervous because I havent had any Braxton Hicks contractions, no show, no loss of mucos plug, no NOTHING. And my doctor said at my 39 wk exam that Im not dialated at all. This freaks me out bc I dont want to be induced and I also hear there is a higher risk of C-section with beong induced. Im also a first time mom. Im in need of some reassurance! Any advice?

  • Cervix checks mean nothing. Baby will come when he/she is ready. Plenty of people go to 42 weeks and plenty of inductions go very well. Don't stress and be patient! Good luck!

I am glad you mentioned this. I suppose its not an exact science which explains why my doctor won't give me any definitive information and always leaves the room pretty quick before I can ask any questions.
  • With DS I had no BH contractions or anything like that, no signs of labor, loss of mucus plug (that I noticed) or cervical changes at my 39w appointment, but then at 39w2d labor started, and he was born 6 hours later. There aren't always signs in the week leading up to it, at least not things that you would notice. Good luck!
  • No signs of labor until the day before my induction date. Contractions started and that was that.

Just be patient, baby is coming.

  • My advice - wait it out.

Women go 1+ weeks past their due dates all the time.
