Talk to me about leggings (NBR)

I'm trying to buy leggings but I can't find any that are tight enough on the ankles. I'm 5'4" 140lbs wear size 8 pants. But I have very skinny ankles. All the leggings I try on look like straight leg pants on me, which really just looks like sweat pants. I want something that hugs my ankles. And isn't see through so I can wear them as pants. Any ideas? Also where do you get your fleece lined leggings from?

  • I bought multiple fleece lined leggings from target. Love them!
They're cheap, but in perfectly happy with them and they're not see through at all. I'm sure you can find nice ones in some more expensive brands, but I can't imagine they're much better than these ones.

  • My sister got me my fleece ones as a birthday gift from shopbop.com a couple of years back. I'm looking for another pair now since they are amazing

I know, I know, I was a firm believer that leggings are not pants... Until this baby was born!

  • I'm wearing leggings at this very moment. I second Costco.
  • I know what you mean about wearing them as pants, but it depends on how you where them! Lol long shirts and boots, for example.

Leggings should not be worn as pants UNLESS the top you are wearing is long enough to completely cover your butt. There are no exceptions.

Pre-pregnancy, I would have said leggings are for under dresses, not tops. Now? IDGAF and wear leggings with long (definitely bum-covering) cardigans all the time.

Edited to clarify: Even with my currently relaxed standards, there are some lines you just don't cross. Leggings are awesome but...they are still not pants.

Express makes their leggings tight at the ankles but I mostly wear them under boots- which would solve your loose ankle problem. White House Black Market makes really nice ones too if you want to spend the money.

I'm wearing Express leggings right now and they're loose on the ankles!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, will check them out. And to be clear I always wear my leggings with long shirts but because I babywear all the time, sometimes my shirts ride up under the carrier and I don't notice/DGAF!

  • I've never tried their regular leggings, but I loved the H&M mama (maternity) leggings.
