Monday vents

What's your vent(s) today?

Mine is that I've been bleeding for 12 days straight with no end in sight. This is the longest period ever. Stupid PP hormones and birth control regulating I suppose, but I'm seriously ready to be done with this.

  • DH hit a trash can on the side of the road today, which somehow broke our side view mirror in half and it's now gone. I hate unexpected expenses, especially this time of year!!!  Boo.  X(

  • I could have used this on Saturday. DH traveled out of town with the boys for a 4 day extravaganza. I was left at home with our two LOs and I had to take them to my parents' house by Saturday afternoon because I was ready to lose my mind. Both kids had me up the night previously, DS was into everything he wasn't supposed to be and DD wasn't napping because.... Because. I was dreading staying there overnight and thank god I did. They made my life so much easier and they took DS' monitor (and he as up with them like he was the night before) and they left me alone to just take DD. So thankful. And it made a huge difference to come home. DH is on his way home now. And now I have the week to prep my house for my ILs. They are coming Saturday.

  • @DC2London That sounds like a really rough day. Can you go out somewhere with the kids so at least they're not further destroying your house? Maybe an indoor play area or even just walking the mall?

    Hope your day improves!

  • I took 2 toddlers to the grocery store this morning in 20 degree weather and discovered that all the double carts were outside full of snow. Had to wait 15 minutes for somebody to clean one off for me, since there was no way I was going back home without having done the grocery shopping!

About to go car shopping by myself b/c DH can't take time off work right now and we need to replace his car. Can't wait to walk into the dealer as a woman on my own. I fear that they're not going to take me seriously. At least I'm just looking today.

  • @DC2London‌ about a month ago Roo must have gone through my drawers and found flavored lube (stuff we don't use). He was sucking on the bottle when I found him and I felt too many feelings. All I could do was laugh and thank God it wasn't the lube we actually use!
  • I have one. Ever since prop 47 passed in California (which makes burglary and other former felonies misdemeanors) the cops can't do anything but write them a ticket unless it's more than $950. Which is like ok whatever until I catch the same people x amount of days in a row and they know they're just getting a slap on the wrist so that pisses me off and while I was talking to one of the cops he made a point I hadn't thought of which was he doesn't know what he's going to do when a family's home is burglarized and all he can say is "don't worry they got a ticket". That shit makes me see red.
  • Oh no DC, I hope it's nothing too serious and that he feels better soon!

  • Thanks to 3 inches of snow the commute this morning was a nightmare. I was already on E when I left the house and the first gas station I hit their pumps were not working. So I had to drive out of my way to the office to get gas.

On my lunch break I went to the grocery store to get milk (I'm out and so is Kieran's sitter) and apparently any snow means the apocalypse so it took a thousand years to check out because they had two cashiers working.

Umm, I don't know that that's going to be a realistic or common occurrence.  While I don't appreciate my house getting burglarized, I don't necessarily think that stealing a $800 TV is worthy of a felony.  Or stealing a $400 iphone from my unattended purse

And I'm not so sure that many home burglaries are going to fall into the "under $950" category.  I had an apartment broken into, and we had over $1,000 worth of stuff stolen, not to mention the broken door that had to be fixed.

Believe it or not most of my stops are repeat offenders often trespassed from company properties. Now that there is no real trouble to get in, I see burglary going up a ton.
Even though not many will be grand theft there will be some and if I was one of those families I would not feel justified with a misdemeanor especially since most burglars aren't first time offenders.
There are parts of prop 47 I do agree with. This just happens to be a part I don't. I'm all for second chances but there has to be a limit.
  • @Amstreagle I feel you. When we first moved into our house, all of our neighbors were getting burglarized.  Luckily they caught the kid before he got our house.  The thought that they will get a slap on the wrist burns me.

My house is frustrating me today.  When we bought it, we knew some of the work done to it was not great, but not deal-breaking.  That is still true, but the amount of things that were crappily done piss me off.  We have a cheap shower floor that discolors if I forget to spray it down twice a week.  There is no insulation in the roof in the front of our house (there was no insulation anywhere in the roof structure before we moved in).  The backsplash in our kitchen is so shoddily done I can't even look at it.  Instead of removing the wallpaper in the master bedroom, they just painted over it, so it was all bubbly and weird (not to mention the wallpaper was 40 years old).  When DH tore it down to repaint our bedroom, he had to mud one of the walls completely, but he didn't give it enough time to set between paint, so we are back to weird, bubbly wall that has to be redone because it's driving him nuts.  Our dishwasher was broken and "fixed" with glue on the bottom and a screw shoved into the handle to make it latch.  And on and on and on.  Things that didn't stand out at first glance but the longer we lived here, the more we found.

We are slowly but surely making this okay house into a good house, but all the little things grate.  That and DH has a tendency to do things to the point of "good enough" but that you can still tell are not 100% right, but he refuses to hire professionals and gets pissy when I point out that things are still not right and won't fix them because it's "good enough."  Gaaaaaaaah.  And he wonders why I refused to let him buy a fixer.  #-o

  • I got one more...sorry.

I actually won a legitimate Facebook contest about a month ago.  I entered some random drawing for Seraphine (maternity clothes company that I got my Princess Kate dress from) and I won one of their new sweaters!  I was really excited because I never win anything!

So I sent in my info to the coordinator and waited...two weeks went by and nothing.  So I contacted her again and she said she had sent it on Oct 12 and sent me the tracking number for FedEx.  So I check the website and it says it has been in Nashville since Oct 15.  So then I called them and all they would tell me is that 15,000 pieces of international mail were being held in Nashville and that my package was among them, and there was no estimated time for release.  I asked why it was all being held and the girl wouldn't tell me (my guess is drugs).  Well...okay then.  I guess I have to wait.

It's been over a month and as far as I can tell, nothing has changed.  Bright side is I didn't have to pay for it, but I'm so annoyed that I may never get to wear this thing before I give birth, and I'm starting to think I will never get it at all.

  • Since you asked...  Got a call from daycare this afternoon that DD was acting up.  She's had behavior issues before but we've had a pretty good run the last few months.  This week her normal teacher is on vacation so I guess she was testing the waters with the new one.  Just when I thought she was outgrowing that behavior...

Oh I am reminded of a good one while folding laundry. I just bought some 12-18 month pants because he finally start growing a little. I have to buy the jeans with adjustable waist since he is a little guy. I spent a good chunk of change at The Children's place. I think they are weirdly sized, they are already too small. I just held them against a pair of carters (need to be ironed) pants that are 12-18 mo and they are wayyyy shorter! I need to buy more jeans already, it has only been a month since I bought the new jeans! I took a picture cause I am weird, but I warn you to buy Children's place pants in store, or bigger than you think if you go online!

I learned that with the 12 month stuff I bought. I thought I was getting the deal of a lifetime till I had to buy it all again after a month because it was too small.

Hahaha!  Maybe Nov's challenge should be "Favorite gif of a person walking!" so I can put it back!
