Need heartburn relief!

Anyone have suggestions for heartburn relief without taking medications?

Interesting. Mint has always made mine worse. Different strokes, I suppose. Milk and any non-sweetened dairy works for me.

Different strokes indeed!  Milk kills me!  Trial and error.

  • Is there are reason you are avoiding medications? The only thing I've found that works for me is Famotidine 10mg(pepcid) 1-2 times per day.

  • Yogurt helps me.
  • Milkshakes.
But the heartburn got unbearable for me so I just started taking Zantac one pill a day to prevent and it's helping a little bit.
  • Milk usually helps mine. Sometimes I mix it with kefir, and it still works.

I take tums, or suffer through it. EVERYTHING gives me heartburn; Sometimes just breathing gives me heartburn.

  • Bragg's apple cider vinegar drink! I drink it with every meal - It's a miracle worker for heart burn
  • I drink pickle juice
  • Milk is my natural relief. But I use antacids otherwise and Ranitidine at night.
  • I've been eating saltine crackers (I think they're called soda crackers too) on a daily basis. I find they settle my stomach fairly quickly and satisfy that hunger until I can eat something later. Love them!
  • I had heartburn so bad I was throwing up every day the whole 2nd trimester!! Finally gave in and tried Zantac 150 twice a day and it is like the miracle drug! If I miss taking one it immediately comes back and I am running to the bathroom the longer I let it linger.
  • If I don't take my pepcid at night, I'm dead. I was up at LEAST 4 times last night with acid in my throat, I think I may have to start taking it twice a day :/

  • Mine isn't that bad, so IDK if this will help. My go-to is chocolate milk, but also avoiding certain foods at dinner and later works for me. Like, I can have pizza for lunch and be fine, but not for dinner, because then I'll get heartburn when I go to bed. Sleeping in a recliner or sitting up helps when it's bad.

  • I am taking zantac twice a day and nexium once a day.  I had terrible heartburn even before getting pregnant, so mine has been horrible since the stick turned.

I am starting to wake up with acid in my throat too so my doc suggested popping a few tums before bedtime as well as taking my prenatal in the morning instead of at night.  She also said to avoid mint as that causes the sphincter muscle that is above the stomach to loosen and can make heartburn worse.

  • I pop a couple of Tums.  Or have a bowl of ice cream.  Last night peanut butter seemed to help too.
