TTC after 35

Newbie intro.

Hello everyone. About me. I'm 36 Mh is 35 TTC #1 for over 6 years with opk's and timed intercourse(temping never worked b/c I worked 2 night shifts and 2 day shifts and I am a complete insomniac). We have not been able to look further into our inability to get pregnant because of insurance/financial/house issues and we had our own business for years that sucked up all of our extra $. We are lucky to have MH get an awesome job with great benefits and finally feeling financially stable. I have an appt on 11/24 with an RE. I am extremely nervous that I ignored this for way too long and excited to finally get some answers. You ladies are awesome and I love reading your stories, questions and check ins. I am a crazy lurker and looking forward to giving my support. Thanks for listening.

Re: Newbie intro.

  • Hi and welcome!  :-h Love the name because everything cheese!

I wish you luck at the RE and I hope they give you the answers you're looking for. I am almost 40 and have my first RE appointment on Dec 17th so you aren't alone with the waiting.
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • Thank you all for your kind and welcoming words. Unfortunately a call from the RE office today totally ruined my day. As per my conversation with my insurance company I have coverage for all testing up to the diagnosis of infertility. (My insurance will change at the beginning of the year to an insurance that does cover IF). The lovely lady at the RE office told me that they will not cover any testing or consultations unless is an underlying condition. The RE is under my plan as a ob/gyn/RE. Now I get to call my insurance all over again tomorrow to find some answers and decide if I put out the $$ for the RE, wait till January or start up some testing with a regular GYN. I've waited this long what's another 6-7 weeks. Thanks for letting me vent.
  • Damn, I'm sorry. I'm scared of something similar happening to me. I was told to make sure the RE doesn't use any sort if diagnosis that says infertility.

I hope a conversation with your insurance goes better tomorrow!

  • Grrrr--I'm sorry. This is going to be an unpopular opinion (not a lot of love for OBs on this board) but I actually would recommend getting the preliminary testing so that when you do get your insurance upgrade and see the RE, you already have some info to shape the treatment options you discuss.

    Good luck!

I waited till I was 27 to find out the reason why I never became pregnant. Then waited to age 36 to do something about it. Gl to you in this journey.
