Double stroller suggestions

Alright lady's. I need some suggestions on double strollers. I bought one at the beginning of my pregnancy but ds1 had a growth spurt and no longer fits. He is 45 lbs and about the height of a 5 year old and so I am struggling to find one he will fit in. I have a graco double stroller now and i can't recline him when he sleeps and his feet drag on the floor in front of the stroller. Any suggestions?

Re: Double stroller suggestions

  • No help here... my kids are short and pretty small (DD#1 is 25% for height and weight... DD#2 is 50% for both... And DD#3 is 29% for height and only 8% for her weight!!!)

and I don't use strollers often...

    DH - J.I. - 08/1986

    DD#1 - A.E. - 12/15/2009
    DD#2 - N.R. - 11/07/2011
    DD#3 - S.R. - 05/20/2013
      DS - R.E. - 10/03/2014

Absolutely in love with our 'big' family!

I'm also a proud Auntie to a crazy little girl, her brand new baby sister, a little man on his way in the next month, and a sweet little mister we will miss forever!!!

  • I only really use strollers if ds1 is asleep. Both my boys are in the 99th percentile so it's a challenge.
  • Can he ride in the back seat and the infant carrier in the front? I have big kids too, and I've always used a baby trend sit and stand deluxe, but neither of the seats recline flat. My kids had no problem sleeping in it though. The infant seat could go in the front position so the back could either be a full seat or bench seat if I wanted to let DD stand.

Sorry! Not what you asked, but it's all I've got!!
  • @theresat858‌ that's what I've been doing but I would like a stroller option as well.

@2goingon3‌ I will have to look at that one. Mine has a little baby seat on the back where a small child (under 1 yr) could sit or you can attach a car seat so the only option for ds1 is the front.

    Oh really?? That's pretty terrible.
I really like my double, the backseat is removable, it's easy to fold, light for a double so getting it in and out of the car is easy, and it's narrower than most doubles so steering and going in and out of stores is easy. We took it to disney when my kids were 2 & 3, and they both fell asleep in it each night, no issues. Also, it cost under $150 at walmart, which is awesome.
  • My 6 year old can still somewhat fit in our bumble ride indie twin. He's pretty tall. Probably anything more jogging stroller style would work better.
Otherwise maybe try the city mini twin. Most of the companies that rent stroller for at disney world seem to use them, so I'd guess they'd work with a bigger kid.

  • Seconding the City Mini rec, bough I think you'd be better served by the GT version, which gets much better reviews for handling.
  • We have a contours options & I love that dang thing.. our four year old who is over 50 lbs can still ride in it.. hes very tall as well & he lets his feet drag, but when we remind him to put them in he's good :) you can also get an attachment for an infant seat..
  • I love my duo glider, but DS1 is super short, so I dont know about feet dragging. The back reclines completely and the front reclines partially. DS1 has sat in both seats just fine, and napped all right in the front.

I think if you want both to recline enough, you will probably need a jogging type stroller or one that is side by side. I have no experience with those.
  • We also love our city select, though DD is only 2 so I don't know specifically how it would work with tall kids. It can do like 16 different configurations though, so I'd think at least one would work

  • Yes! I agree, the baby jogger city select is fantastic!! You can add a second seat. I literally asked every Mamma that I saw in public if they liked their city select (before we purchased) and they did. You can do so much with it!
  • SIL gave us her Bumbleride Indie dual stroller to use and it seems like it's pretty big. Her DS was in it until he was 3 1/2 (he's 4 1/2 now) and he's a tall, big kid. Like he's as tall as his 7 year old cousin who's of average size.
