Trying to Get Pregnant

symptoms

Hi,

I ovulated on 11/10 and starting at 5dpo I started getting cramps and light spotting and slight nausea (very fleeting nausea).  Starting today-7dpo the spotting has become very heavy where I need a pad or tampon-AF isn't due until 7 days from now.  I have always had a 28-30 day cycle so this bleeding is very early for it to be AF.  Is this IB?  Should I take a pregnancy test-I feel that it may be too early but what is going on.  Any help would be appreciated!.

  • I have been temping/charting my BBT for a few months and they have consistently had me ovulating on same CD-the same was true this month.  And it would be very inconsistent for me to have my AF on CD 21-23.
  • Bodies are inconsistent, tricky, little bastards. You could have ovulated earlier, or it could have been anovulatory. Sounds like AF to me.

Hello, @butlerfan36.  If you need a pad or tampon while bleeding, you have begun your period.  Your cycles can change for no reason because bodies are assholes.  It sounds like you have started a new cycle.

Were you taking hormonal birth control?  If so, how long ago did you stop using it?  It could be that your cycle is still regulating from those hormones.  You also said that you have been charting your BBT.  Are you able to screenshot or link us to this chart?  That would give us a lot more information on what concerns you may be having rather than symptoms such as nausea or sore breasts.  Both of those symptoms can be attributed to several things, so we cannot give you sound advice from them.

You are welcome to take a pregnancy test if you are concerned you may be pregnant, but I would have you expect to see a negative.  It sounds like you ovulated earlier than 11/10 -or- you had a short luteal phase (LP) this month.  One short LP isn't something to worry about.  If you continue to have short LPs (10 days or less between ovulation and CD1 -- 3 or more times in a row), contact your doctor for further instructions.  Good luck.

  • Cycles can change whenever.  Bodies are assholes like that.  If you have to use a pad or tampon, then you have gotten your period.

I've typically had a 26-27 day cycle for the last 6 months or so, but a couple cycles ago I had a 17 day cycle out of the blue.  No reason, shit just happens and our bodies love to mess with us.  We're not machines, having a body means having to deal with 'inconsistencies', if this weren't the case we wouldn't need doctors ever.  So you had a shorter cycle than normal and likely ovulated earlier than your charting predicted.  It happens.

  • I'm sorry to tell you OP, but the same thing happened to me last cycle. Why? Who knows. My body apparently decided it was time to play some mind games on me. It sucks, but it is what it is.

I usually have a 26-28 day cycle. I once had a 19 day cycle. This cycle I'm already on CD 30. Things change. It can be infuriating, but it happens. Welcome to womanhood.

  • I haven't been on hormornal bc for about a year and my periods were off for a couple months but went to the 28-30days after that. I use ovia fertility for tracking cm and bbt not sure how to link it here. Based on those two items I am 7 dpo but maybe did have a short L.P. I'll see if the bleeding continues.

  • Hi!
I think our bodies can play horrible tricks on us specially when we are under the stress of TTC, I strongly believe for what I read before and for personal experience that symptoms do not mean anything, it could be so many things since everyones body reacts different. I would suggest you to wait until is time to AF and then test if it won't show the day it is supposed to. The "I am always regular" rule is not unbreakable and sometimes hormones, stress or many things can cause you to be late. Last cycle I had so many symptoms I was sure I was pregnant but then AF show up and this teacher me there is no rule that certain symptoms will mean for sure pregnancy you won't know until you have a positive test.

I wish you best of luck, do not stress and as soon as you feel ready TEST.
  • Period.

    Better luck next cycle.

  • @littleliverpill lol.. I read the bleeding but I misread the tampon pad stuff... What I was trying to say is that every month no matter how regular you are your body can just decide to be irregular and also I was suggesting that if she feels she needs to test she should to have peace of mind.

    Hugs for you all!!

    :)
