So, DH's 20-year HS reunion is coming up in a couple weeks. He was very sweet and didn't pressure me to go with him, but it just wouldn't feel right not to. As it gets closer, I'm getting really nervous! He went to school in a somewhat upscale part of town, and I only point that out because it means that the women will, in general, be pretty into their looks. (while I'm so natural, I'm still sporting my own hair color). Of course, this is my choice, so normally, I could suck it up... but being just into my 2nd tri, means:
1. I don't look or feel my best right now.
2. NO ALCOHOL!
I bought a nice flowy maxi dress to disguise the blump and might splurge on some better makeup... but with all the current/upcoming PG expenses, it seems a little frivolous to go out and blow much more $$ than that on getting primped.
The good news is that even though I don't have a cute bump to show, at least now we can tell people we're expecting. If this had been in the spring or summer (after TTC unsuccessfully for 2+ years), I would not have been in the emotional state to handle those questions from a bunch of strangers.
Anyway, thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Any tips for surviving a reunion (without alcohol)?

Re: NPGR: 20-year Reunion, eeek!
The funny thing - I don't think anyone really paid that much attention to how they/others looked. Fortunately I think a lot of that superficial stuff went away in the last 20 years. (I have my 20th next year so hopefully it will be the same!)
Plus even if the people are superficial - who cares what they think - you probably won't see them again for another 10 - 20 years
Hope you are able to have some fun.
As for surviving without alcohol, I've avoided reunions entirely but have ended up at plenty of social functions I'd rather not be at. So 2 ideas: 1) mocktails - fool yourself into thinking you're having a drink and 2) pregnancy perks, as in "phew I thought I could stay out later but I am pooped and even though I've only been here 45 min I think I need to go home and rest"

Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive. Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)
