  • It's not even Thanksgiving yet. I haven't even thought about NYE. We normally go to Savannah and go out to eat. I doubt this year will be any different.

lol, I do get ahead of myself, but I'm right outside NYC so any plans I do make id have to make soon! That's why I'm asking for suggestions now. Maybe someone had an idea of a show or something fun that i'd need to plan (or budget!) for.

There's a few good restaurants in my area that do a prix fixe 4-5 course dinner on New Year's Eve, we will probably choose one and go. Nothing terribly exciting, unless we get a party invitation

    Edit: spelling
  • My DH actually has off this year so we will be ordering Chinese delivery and watching movies and playing board games with the kids until they crash.  Sadly enough, this year I have a feeling the 6 year old will last longer than me.  But it's really fun having a safe tradition for the kids every year.  We used to do a first night family event in a local town when the stepkids were little but then were still on the road with drunk people.

Well my husband bought us a week in Vegas for my 30th present b4 we got pregnant and we'll be there over new yr! I guess that's the best place to spend our last nye b4 baby time! We were there 2 years ago and we partied and watched fireworks on the strip. I'm guessing it may be a bit lower key this year! We r seeing JT on New Year's Day which I'm very excited about!

That's AMAZING. I saw his show over the summer, so awesome!
  • My parents always throw a huge party. Their friends, my friends, fire pit, drinking, craziness, and fireworks.

I think this year it will be at our house though. All the same stuff and people.

Obviously I won't be seriously drinking, but you can bet your ass I'll be toasting a small glass of champagne at midnight.

Our friends had a party last year and I convinced them to do it again this year since they just renovated their house. It's a potluck and the house is full of babies and toddlers. It's a perfect low key night.

  • I'm sure we will sit at home. I'll probably make some snackies and SO will probably have some drinks. We have a 1 yearold and with me being pregnant I doubt I'll be up at midnight.

  • We will be on vacation in California, I'm not sure if we'll do anything special or not.

  • We party with the same group of friends every year and just rotate who hosts. This year a bunch of us are pregnant so it will be a different story! But should still be fun. It's relaxing and low key and just a fun get together
  • Comedy show in Chicago, then a family get together.
  • Last year we travelled from CA to NYC on NYE. We were at a diner where we could see the ball drop but nowhere really near the craziness. I lived in NYC for 20 years and that was the first time in my life I was near Times Square on NYE.

I am trying to convince DH we should go to Disneyland!

  • We will be with H's side of the family at their vacation home. We are leaving right after Christmas and will be there until the 3rd. It's usually really snowy there so in sure we will play games, everyone else will drink and I'll struggle to stay awake until midnight.

  • This will be a very different New Years for us. For the past 8 years we've always gone out to dinner with friends, and then back to one of our houses for a late night of drinking. I think this year we'll stay in, have dinner and enjoy each other's company.

I am *always* on the night shift on New Years Eve.  I am usually driving westbound on the turnpike at the stroke of midnight.

  • @Pintobean39‌ ugh I'm jealous!! I miss Savannah so much! That's where we got married and went to school at Southern...that is still our favorite city and I miss it so much. But now we're in "the great state" of Texas :/

Anyway @buppydups10‌ NYE is our anniversary so we're definitely doing something but I've made it a habit of falling asleep on the couch by about 9:30 so it'll probably just be dinner and I will definitely be partaking in a glass of champagne and no one can stop me with their stank eyes!
  • It will be nothing spectacular. My husband has to work, he is a fireman so I won't see him til New Years Day, so I will probably spend the night at my parents. Also, I have big plans to eat Chinese food too! For some reason that sounds really good right now.
  • I'll be pulling a 12 hour shift at the hospital. Beats working christmas!

We've done the same thing the last few years. We order take out and watch movies or binge watch a tv show at either our house or my mom's and play games. This year, we'll be at home and they're coming here. I'm making snacks, my mom is getting a sushi tray from Whole Foods and we're watching The Big Bang Theory season 2. My mom and sister will spend the night and then in the morning, we'll make pancakes and chill out before separating for the day.

  • We have a tradition of always getting all dolled up and going to a fancy dinner. One we can only afford once a year! :)
  • We were in Chicago last NYE and went to a local spot and had such a fun night! We normally go out or go to a friends and I haven't even thought about it for this year yet. I'm the type that hates to sit on the couch but lately I've been such a homebody!

We don't live in Savannah either.  Somedays I wish I did, I love it there.  We just have a house downtown that we go to stay at when ever we can.  I'm in south Louisiana so we leave for Mardi Gras, to me it's a cleaner New Orleans and after 40 years I'm over Mardi Gras, we usually go for a week in the summer and New Years.  This year we are spending Thanksgiving there too, I can't wait to get there Saturday.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I will literally be on a plane. We are flying home to visit family for Christmas, and we could only catch the red eye back home on NYE. Gonna be a party on the plane.

  • Hmm...New Years Eve is my birthday, and I turn 30 this year. I hate the pressure of doing something exciting/special every year. I told my husband that what I really want to do is hang out with his family who we won't be with at Christmas this year (we're doing it with my family) and have second Christmas. I'm a Christmas FREAK. I DO plan on having one glass of champagne, so I have that to look forward to.
