Eating Before?

I have a scheduled induction Tuesday at 8am!!! By the time everything gets going/started I'm sure it will be almost 9am. My first daughter arrived at 10:49pm and my son at 7:11pm. It's a long day with no food.

Who is eating before there induction?

If so what are you planning?

Re: Eating Before?

  • I would eat all the things. Seriously. The worst part of my entire labor/delivery was that I was starving!!!

  • I had a cinimon roll before mine on Tuesday. My induction was also scheduled at 8 am. My doc said I could eat something small before it.
  • I also wasn't hungry until post c-section at 11 pm. I was on an IV and was so pumped with fluids.
  • Thanks All!
We have 2 get up about 6:30am Tuesday so I am planning a full breakfast now!

  • Definitely eat before you go but if I had it to do over I would not have had lamb chops for dinner the night before (not that I knew I would go into labor the next morning). I think they are still stuck in my intestines five days later.

I ate Popsicles and sugar free jello while on pitocin trying to dilate and I was puking puking puking from 7 cm to 10. Just don't gorge. Water made me puke too.

  • I'm being induced at 4:30am on Tuesday and the paper I have says no eating/drinking after midnight:(( I will only be allowed ice chips
  • I would recommend something highly nutritious with a good amount of protein and carbs. My plan when I went into labour was a green smoothie and peanut butter toast. Both of those things are comfort foods to me as well as being pretty good for you.

To be honest I was the total opposite of @mommymeg143‌, I wasn't hungry during labour at all and it shocked me. I was very thirsty and was glad to have a giant water jug with a straw, but I wouldn't have wanted to eat anything anyway.
  • I've never been hungry during labor, induced or otherwise. One of the things that helped convinced me it was real this time was the fact that I nearly vomited up the Tums I took for my reflux.

I've always been hungry and really thirsty afterwards, though. I was so excited when LO was born at 3pm because I would be able to get dinner (my hospitals' food is actually pretty good). All my other labors ended after dinner service and I had to send DH out for food.

  • I decided to eat before I went to the hospital (I wanted a Burger King breakfast croissant badly). But we passed no Burger King so I didn't.

And I was so glad of this fact when I puked 3x during transition.

    Your call but I wouldn't!

  • I was not induced but I was nauseous during labor and I remember thinking sweet and sour chicken was not the best choice for lunch that day (we had lunch at the mall food court while doing some walking to try to get labor going).

I think if you can eat, and you want to eat, you should eat.
