Phasing out BM bottles?

DD is 12.5 months, and I have stopped pumping at work. Still BF'ing when we're together, and we are down to the last 40 oz of my freezer stash. She usually takes one bottle a day of BM during the week while I am at work. She drinks water in straw cups. Any ideas on how to ease the transition away from bottles of BM? Should she start drinking BM in straw cups this week instead of bottles? I just don't want to waste the BM...she doesn't seem to drink much volume from the straw cups, just sips on it a little here and there. She has tried WCM and seems to like the taste just fine. Not sure if I need to mix BM and WCM since taste doesn't seem to be an issue?

Re: Phasing out BM bottles?

  • agree it depends on your LO's preference. any way that works is fine. :)

DS just would not drink breastmilk out of anything but a bottle. he had been drinking water out of a straw cup since he was about 9 months, but he would just not drink BM out of a straw cup- we tried over and over. but cow's milk, weirdly, he had no problem taking in a straw cup. i stopped pumping at 14 months, and had been using up my freezer stash from about 12-14 months (i was only pumping once per day during that period). DS got BM in a bottle until i ran out, then we went directly to cow's milk in a straw cup. DS always loved WCM, so we didn't have any trouble convincing him to drink it, and never needed to mix it with BM.
