Well, I was lucky enough to get to go to labor and delivery last week on Wednesday night. Around 7:00, after I put the boys to bed, I started getting this unending vaginal pressure, pain, and tingling. It became so uncomfortable that I called in and was told I needed to go to L&D for checking. On the way to the hospital, around 9:30 or so, I started to get the worst back pain I have ever experienced in my life. That really freaked me out and I thought I might be going into early labor.
After signing a million unnecessary forms, I was checked for pre-term labor and nothing - zip - cervix closed and high, baby doing fine, etc. Only now I started vomiting as well. They tested my urine but DID NOT TELL ME that I had blood in there, which might have helped me figure out what was going on sooner. They were just like, sorry, it's not pre-term labor and we're sorry you're vomiting and in excruciating pain, maybe you should go to the ER? Take some tylenol. Wait here while we go get some for an hour or so.
Anyway, went to my primary care physician the next morning who thought it was a kidney stone but didn't want anything to do with treating me because I was pregnant and then to my OB later that day - somewhere around lunch time I finally passed the kidney stone and the angels rejoiced. It was pretty much unending excruciating back pain for about 14-15 hours. I never want to experience that again. At least contractions come and go. They said to drink water but I'm already drinking a ton of water because I had low amniotic fluid earlier in my pregnancy. So I'm not sure what else to do. Just wanted others to know that excruciating back pain doesn't necessarily mean early labor! Hope none of you have to go through this!
After 2 losses, IVF #2 brought us our little boys.

Now we're waiting on our miracle baby ... a little GIRL!!!

Re: Kidney Stones PSA
@ladyprof, I'm glad your stone passed ok! I went to L&D a couple weeks ago because I was feeling painful contractions (and my mom made me, lol). They weren't regular but they hurt! I didn't have blood in my urine at that time, but I even told them I suspected a kidney stone and they wouldn't believe me because there wasn't any blood in my urinalysis! I passed a stone 2 days later and was like, ha! But you can get stones that move, then stop, then move again and you won't necessarily have blood while it's stopped moving.
Edit for spell check fail
