Positive Natural Birth Stories

As my due date approaches, I'm finding myself a little weary and I'm searching for some reinforcements.  One thing that I would like to do is read positive birth stories of others.  I think that this could potentially be helpful to others as well ....  I'm hoping that if you guys agree, we can reach out to a mod and create a 'sticky' thread where we can share our positive birth stories.  I think that it would be great to have a central location where we can come and gather strength through others.  I would be happy to read birth stories from years and years ago and current stories - they're all applicable and motivational.  I know that I can go back through the board and search and search for stories, but it's always easier to have the information in a central location.  Do you ladies agree?

    Have you checked out the Birth Story Board, there are a lot of nice stories on there!  I like your idea, but I think if we put in the request it should just read something like 'birth stories'.  There are women on here who have had their birth follow a different path than they expected and I would hate to think of these women not feeling comfortable sharing their stories as well.  I'm guessing that is what you had in mind, but less emphasis on 'positive birth stories' and more just a place to share your story :)

    I was planning to say something very similar.  Almost all births have some unexpected twist to them.  Sometimes those twists are good, other times they are not.  What people consider to be a "positive" story would certainly differ.  Also, there are many different interpretations of "natural birth" as we talk about on this board often.  I feel like the sticky should be more inclusive of all stories.

    For example, my daughter's birth was a very positive, completely med-free birth.  However, in her birth story, I talked about my awful birth experience with my son (to give perspective).  As a STM who had a less-than-positive first birth, I know I LOVED reading stories from STM who had a negative first birth and a positive second birth.  It gave me hope.  So in that way, I would consider my daughter's birth story very positive.  But the details of my son's birth that I included might scare some FTM.  So I wouldn't even know whether to include mine or not in a "positive natural birth stories" link.

    I agree that what people view as positive will differ, and who are we to tell a woman her story isn't positive?

    I do think it's a good idea to have a sticky of birth stories, because no matter what the outcome, people here are generally all aiming for a "natural" birth.

    People can then title their stories, and others can read the ones that interest them.

    Doh!  I had no idea that there was a birth stories board.  I'm a bad Bumpee.  :)

    I'm completely open to a sticky of birth stories ....  You ladies are right, who am I to say what is positive and what isn't positive.  I'd say a delivery with a baby is a positive story. 

    Should I signal a mod to make a sticky?

    I didn't want to hijack the Natural Birth tread, but I wanted to thank those of you that have shared your stories so far.  You're definitely giving me the strength and encouragement that I needed.  Thank you so very much for sharing.
