Cortisone shot

Hi everyone!

This is my first post in A15, but I've been lurking since I found out I was pregnant.

I'm 30 years old and a FTM. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and was advised to stop all meds when we found out. I've been having bad flare ups for a few weeks and it looks like my only option is a cortisone shot at this point. It has gotten so bad in my foot that I can barely walk.


I trust my Dr very much, but I guess why I'm writing here is just to find out if anyone else has gotten a cortisone shot while pregnant? I was trying to hold off until 20 weeks as it is less risky the further along you get, but only made it to 17 weeks.

Wondering what your experience was if you've had the shot done and if it really helped. I'm hoping for the best!

    I don't have any experience, but sorry you have to go through this; I know it can be nerve wracking to need or be prescribed meds that YOU might need while pregnant but carry a possibility of not being safe for baby. I'd trust your doc's guidance if you trust him, but Dr. google also reveals some threads and info that might help provide some real life experiences.     Hi there! I'm scheduled for a cortisone shot in my knee next Monday actually, at 20 weeks. Not that the weeks has nothing to do with the injection. My OB said and has always stuck with the motto of "if you need it, take it. If you don't need it, don't take it. " without my injection, walking becomes painful and will ultimately lead to bed rest. Long story short-- listen to your doctor, but if you need it, I say go for it. Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks guys! I've googled everything as well, but there are conflicting reports on both cortisone shots and prednisone usage during pregnancy if you read everything. Thanks for your time and advice. It is much appreciated.
