Happy Monday ladies!

What are your plans for health/fitness this week?

GTKY: Anyone started thinking of fitness-related New Year's Resolutions yet? What is your resolution going to be?

Re: ~*Born to Run JuneBugs 11/17*~

  • How were your runs and workouts this week? Last week I didn't do much. My half marathon was on Sunday so I rested most of the week, and then lead a group run for about 6.5 miles on Saturday.

What are your plans for health/fitness this week? Mostly weight training. I am having some plantar fascitis pain in my left heel/arch since my run on Saturday so I need to get new shoes and do some stretching/icing before I run again. I'm not too bummed, though, as I wanted to get focused on my strength plan once my half marathon was over with, anyway.

GTKY: Anyone started thinking of fitness-related New Year's Resolutions yet? What is your resolution going to be? I don't really "do" resolutions but I think I will put a rule in place for next year to help me from overcommitting to races (like I always do) and that will be that any race I do has to be 1) a race I've never done before, and 2) in a location I haven't raced in before. I love being able to explore new places on foot so this is a good way for me to focus on doing that next year. My SIL and I already have plans in the works for a 10k we are going to do together in Key West, and I might also do a trail half marathon in the Pocono mountains in August.

In addition to that, I really want to see where my strength training can take me. Not saying I want to be a swimsuit competitor or anything but I'd like to get my strength back and then some, and build my lean muscle mass as much as possible.

  • Happy Monday guys!!  Thanks for starting us off @babygabe614!

How were your runs and workouts this week?
Great!  I ran 4x and felt great on every single run AND I met a new running buddy!  She lives about 5 minutes from me and is new to the area and we had a great first run together!  We are signed up for the same race (Shamrock Half in VA Beach) too!  She asked me if I wanted to train with her in the summer for Marine Corps Marathon.  I'm thinking about it but we will see how Shamrock goes.  It will be nice to do something like that again before I become pregnant again!

What are your plans for health/fitness this week?
Run 3-4x and 2x strength train!

GTKY: Anyone started thinking of fitness-related New Year's Resolutions yet? What is your resolution going to be?

No resolution here - just to be consistent with training and healthy eating!  I'm still stumbling with some extra lbs leftover from pregnancy and now that baby is 6 months it's getting in my head and making me MAD!

@babygabe614- Strength training will do incredible things to your body.  PF sucks - I have it slightly as well an it doesn't really seem to go away, even with rest.  It's SO annoying!  Let me know if you find any solutions!

  • Ugh sorry to hear you suffer from the PF too @Kinipela7! I have been told to ice, roll a tennis ball under it, take ibuprofen, and do stretches... so I will try them all but ugh it REALLY hurts in the meantime.

  • My runs: only ran twice. No lifting :(
We have really fallen off the wagon.

Plan for the week: run 3-4 times, lift 2xs. Hoping for a couple 3 mile runs.

No resolutions. Hoping to at least run a 10k before summer tho.
  • Runs/workouts:
Good last week! I met my goal of 5 workouts--4 days of insanity and one 5k trail run with a friend that was so hard because the trail ended up being ungroomed which makes the stroller feel like it's 200lbs. The snow is now here so I will pretty much have to stick the inside training now as I am not much for running in the snow.

    Goals for this week:
5 workouts again of whatever I am able to do. I would like to incorporate more strength training in the future.

    New Years resolutions:
Like @babygabe614‌ I'm not much for New Years resolutions either. We have a wedding in Jamaica Jan 15. I don't feel quite ready to wear a bikini again but would like to feel comfortable in some sort of bathing suit!
  • How were your runs and workouts this week?
Actually pretty good compared to how they have been since E was born. On Tuesday and Thursday I ran to and from work (about 3 miles each way). The logisitics of this were a little annoying, but worth it. Since my time is so limited, I thought this might help getting some more runs in, even if they are only short ones. I also did some trail running with my dad and the dog on Saturday while my mom watched LO. This was a lot of fun and I felt great after. I am still not sure how I am going to get any longer runs in, but for now, I am ok with that.
What are your plans for health/fitness this week?
I am not sure yet. Depending on the weather, I would like to do something similar to last week - a couple of runs to/from work and then some trail running on the weekend. I would like to increase my mileage a little bit, so maybe I will be able to fun a little further with my dad this weekend in the woods.
GTKY: Anyone started thinking of fitness-related New Year's Resolutions yet? What is your resolution going to be?
I have no clue yet. I am asking for a new gym membership for xmas. I haven't gone to the gym since we moved about a year ago since at that point I was in the middle of terrible morning sickness and I just never got back into it after that. Pregnancy totally drained me. The gym I would like to go to has classes as well as a pool (and a daycare!) and I would like to start incorporating some swimming and group training into my workout routine. It is super $$$ though, so hopefully I will get a couple of months membership for xmas so I can try it out.

  • @frenchchocolate611‌ your so lucky you are able to run to work! If I did it would be a half marathon each way haha. I wish I lived in the city and had more access to gyms with daycares etc.
  • I always wonder how people can run to/from/or during work. Don't you get all sweaty? Do you shower at work? @frenchchocolate611

My work is on a rural campus with beautiful running trails but I can't figure out how to utilize them unless I went after work and just drove home sweaty but it's a 45 min commute so that doesn't sound super appealing...

  • I don't know why I am stuck in this box but -

@babygabe614 - we have a locker room with showers at work. A lot of people bike to work or walk/run during lunch. I can leave a bag of clothes/shower stuff/etc. either in the locker room or at my desk over night. The only annoying thing is now I have to figure out how to transport my pumping supplies/milk to and from work when I want to run. Last week I asked one of my friends to drop that stuff off at my house on his way home from work since my house is on his way home. I don't want to ask him to do that all the time though so I am trying to figure out something else. I tried carrying a backpack last week with a few things in it, but that was super annoying. I ended up getting all chafed on my neck from the straps and my husband had been calling me "franken - katie" for the past few days bc it looks like I have two bolt holes on the sides of my neck :(

  • That's awesome that they have those kind of facilities for you to use! @frenchchocolate611‌

  • How were your runs and workouts this week? I got a run in on the treadmill last night, hooray!!! I think I need to start back on a C25K program or something, man that was rough for some reason, I think it's because it's butt ass cold here!! I was in Houston over the weekend visiting my sister. We went to a huge craft show on Saturday and walked around for about 3 1/2 hours, I did this with DS in a front carrier as well! So that was some good back work! He did great too for being in it for so long.

What are your plans for health/fitness this week? Got the run in last night, so that is great. Planning to try and go for a walk Saturday morning now, as long as it doesn't rain:( I'm thinking about putting a workout ball thing in my office and doing crunches on it like twice a day or something. Just to get a little extra work in and not sweat too much.

GTKY: Anyone started thinking of fitness-related New Year's Resolutions yet? What is your resolution going to be? I have to get a race on my calendar soon, it's killing me! My goal is to run a race once a month (can't afford to run more than that honestly). I'm doing good on the Dietbet right now. So I plan to do another one starting in January and drop another 4% and get down to my pre baby pant size at a minimum. I do not want to have to buy bigger size clothes for spring/summer! I would rather spend my money on smaller size clothes! LOL!
