I have been on Pinterest a little to much. Is anyone planning on making any gifts "from" their little one for the grand parents? Ornaments or anything?
I have to do one this year for my cousin. We have a big Christmas celebration with all my cousins and their kids - its about 28-30 people usually. So, instead of everyone buying everyone gifts which would be an insane amount of gifts, we do a secret santa. Everyone picks a name out of the santa hat and the next year they have to make that person a gift - can't be store bought. So last year the babies were entered into the hat (as one person) and they got my cousin. He is a chef, no kids, into making and drinking craft beers and is a total food snob. So, the twins have to "make" something for him . I don't have many ideas. The only thing I have right now is decorating an apron with their hand prints or something. Or maybe just an ornament of some kind.
We did something similar for Father's Day for my dad. We got a LSU football (his team) and did Ethan's hand prints. Then we put it in a case like they do trophy balls for display. He has it in his office. He loved it! Thinking we may do something similar for H's dad for Christmas.
Ok, So I just ordered things. I need paint still. Oops! I forgot about this one Owl footprints that was shown to me by my ex MIL. I ordered some canvas to make those and then the glue, glass rounds, and some magnets to make the small magnets with pictures of each child in them. I bought larger packs so I can do them for other grandparents too.
I love Amazon. Saves me from having to go across town with this snow. It will be another week until the crazy people are less crazy on the roads. *sighs* The first week/week and a half of snow is always fun.
In the past I've gone to one of those ceramic painting places and painted a platter with their handprints and my 5 yo has painted mugs. We made a cute garden stone for my mom with my daughter's footprints when she was a baby. Every year we make the grandparents photo ornaments. This year we made shutterfly calenders, so not crafty, but still cute.

They should be pretty easy except having to cut out all the individual pieces.
