Tomorrow is World Prematurity Day

Seeing as how we now have FIVE January babies born and (thankfully!) doing pretty darn well, I thought I'd mention that tomorrow, November 17th, is World Prematurity Day. 

My niece, Naomi, was born at 32 weeks back in August of 2013. She's now a very busy and very opinionated 15 month old, but she still has many medical appointments and early intervention sessions ahead of her. We're thankful that she is doing so well, but not every baby born early is so lucky.

Tomorrow, I'll wear purple in recognition of the day and in honor of Naomi as well as our 5 January babies. 

If you google, there is a lot of info out there about other ways you can lend support to this cause. :)

    Thanks for posting this . Dd is a 33weeker who is doing just fine now at 2.5. But I always think of other babies born early

    i had no idea either!  my older sister was a premie back in 1981, and while she's healthy, she had some delays when she was little and easily could have not made it if not for the medical team my mom had.

    Thank you for posting this!

    A friend of mine had her baby girl at 23 weeks, 6 days. Little bit was very much a fighter and has the biggest personality. She's a healthy and happy toddler now. Both she and her mom have been very active with Ronald McDonald house and March of Dimes -- mom actually works with the march of dimes now. I'll wear purple tomorrow for our J15 babies and for little bit :)

    I was just planning my outfit for tomorrow. The NICU that Riley is in is doing a lot of events and stuff tomorrow and the whole week so I know I will be participating. Those NICU nurses are a godsend.
    I've always heard that NICU nurses are incredible. I hope Riley has her best day yet today. <3
