After reaching our maximum goal of 2 years, November 4th! I'm trying to get tips on drying up milk, I am trying to wean now and am not looking forward to the miserable overload of milk. Any tips on drying up faster or to ease discomfort?
Putting cold cabbage leaves in your bra is a great way to dry up your milk. It's also very soothing if you do end up feeling full. (I know it sounds funny, but if you google it, it's a tried and true method).
If you find yourself feeling full, hand express just until you're comfortable. You don't want to end up with a clogged duct or mastitis.
ETA: I bf'd DD2 for 26 months and weaned her gradually over a couple weeks. By the end, my supply was so low, I only had to express a couple times for comfort, and I used the cabbage leaves as well. If you do it gradually, hopefully you won't find yourself dealing with much discomfort.
DD1: allergic to eggs & dairy
c/p 4/1/11
DD2: milk and soy protein intolerant, allergic to eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, bananas MSPI Moms Check-In Blog
