First trip to L&D down

FTM here and I'm 35 weeks along, this weekend I was having bleeding, contractions and wasn't about to post a picture of my mucous plug on here. It got to the point tonight where DH made me call the hospital and talk to the doctor on call, she wanted to see us so we got to take our first trip to L&D.

Thankfully after them checking me out, baby boy is staying put but I do have a UTI. I feel silly that we had to go but relieved that it wasn't something major and we didn't end up actually having a kid tonight. Has anyone else had to make premature trips to the hospital? Hopefully the next time we go it won't be until it's for real!

I've already been there also. I was a little embarrassed that I went & everything was fine but, I'm more thankful than embarrassed that it was. What can we say we're mommies & we're protective of our babies.

  • Really glad to hear that I'm not the only one! Also happy that pp's are good and healthy as well :)
  • Glad you were able to get things taken care of and return with baby on the inside!

I went to L&D around 35 weeks because I couldn't keep food or fluids down and then almost ended up giving birth by c-section after I fainted while they were placing the IV.  The staff were all very kind and suggested that it's very common for people to come in at least once before delivering. :)

  • I've had 3 trips now. Once for falling and twice for blood pressure. I think when there is a baby involved, it is better to be safe. Glad you and your LO are good.
  • I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid. So my better half made me call. We went in and they tested sure enough I was. I had to wait a little while and they sent me home. This was a Friday night. Monday morning I went to my doc and he explained that tiny tears can occur that our bodies can heal. I had never heard of this, but hey he is a professional so what I do I know.
  • Glad you and baby are safe- better to go for false alarms than ignore your symptoms

  • I'm glad you went in to get checked.

I went in at around 33 weeks because I thought my water may have broken, but it was a false alarm.

  • It's always better to be safe and get some piece of mind!
  • So glad you are both okay! Unfortunately, I have been in L&D a lot. Once for a heterotopic (ectopic while pregnant with this current uterine baby), once for bleeding and twice for high bp. I feel like I live there.

Here's hoping for a smooth last few weeks!

  • Yes- 3 trips so far. The last at 31 weeks due to contractions and high bp. Ended up as a two night stay with a magnesium drip. Glad everything is okay with you. We are all almost there!
