Second crib?

Hello everyone 

My DS is 10 months; he will be almost 18 months when #2 arrives. I'm just curious - to the other 2u2 moms: did you buy a second crib or did you transfer your LO to a toddler bed when your second arrived?

DS#1: born Dec 29, 2013 
TTC#2 since Sept 2014 - unexplained secondary IF
BFP #2: 11.7.14  M/C: 11.27.14 @ 6w3days
BFP #3: 04.19.2015 M/C 04.27.15 @ 4w3days
BFP #4: 10.05.2015 C/P @ 3w4days
Oct 11, 2015: Cycle 13. Starting Femara (2.5mg). HSG this cycle (all clear) - BFN
Nov 12, 2015: Cyle 14. Femara 5mg + IUI - BFN
Dec 10, 2015: Cycle 15. Femara 5mg + IUI #2 - BFP #5! C/P 4w4d
Jan 10, 2016: Cycle 16. Femara 5mg + IUI #3 - BFN.
Feb 10, 2016: Cycle 17.  No IUI or meds. Taking a break - Natural BFP Mar 5, 2016!!!! EDD Nov 16, 2016
Moving to IVF March 2016
Beta at 10dpo: 21, Beta at 12dpo: 98, Beta at 14dpo: 264, Beta at 16dpo: 745
U/S 6w6d: single beautiful heartbeat of 121bpm - It's a boy!!!!
Nov 3, 2016: Our family became complete. Welcome DS #2.

    Mine are 17 months apart. I didn't move #1 to a bed until she was 26 months so for 9 months I needed 2 cribs.


    TTC#1 for 19 months with PCOS and MFI IUI#3 + injectables = BFP!!!!  Beta#1-134(13dpiui) Beta #2-392(15dpiui)

    My boys are 17 months apart. We have 2 cribs. DS1 just turned 2 and shows no signs of being done with his crib.

    Mine are 15.5 months apart.
    We had DS1 in a crib and LO in the pnp in our room.
    The plan (hope) was that DS1 would move to his twin bed at 17-18 months and LO would would get the crib.
    Worst case scenario, my sister had a crib we could borrow if DS1 didn't like the bed. (We didn't want LO in our room beyond 2-3 months old)
    There were delays along the way, but we got DS1 into his room and new bed at ~21 months and LO into the crib in his new room at ~6 months.

    All is well 2 months later. :)

    Mine are 19.5 mos apart. We had 2 cribs. DD was showing no signs of wanting to be out of a crib and I didn't see any reason to force her. You can get a crib for $100.

    DD stayed in her crib till she turned 3 and DS is still in a crib at 26 mos.

    We did two cribs. We are just about to move dd1 to a bed next week. She's 32 mo. Her sister is 14 months so I'm glad we had two cribs bc dd1 loves hers.

    Mine are 14 months apart....definitely bought a 2nd crib. We just transferred my toddler to a toddler bed at 2

    Mine son will be 21 months when #2 is born and I was starting to think about this as well.  At almost 15 months I can't imagine moving him into a toddler bed any time soon and I know they can change a lot between now and then but I'm thinking we will get another crib.  Plus we have a convertible crib so might as well just use that for son when he is ready and then have the baby in another crib.  We got my sons crib at Ikea for a very reasonable price and I'm thinking I will do the same for #2.

    DS will be 2 will this baby is born.  Our plan is to have him continue to sleep in his crib until at least 2.5 (unless he seems ready for a toddler bed before) and have the baby sleep in the PNP.  If after that time he doesn't seem ready for a bed, we'll reassess the situation.

    Second crib.  Don't mess with a good thing if you have a good sleeper now.  I personally keep my kids in the crib as long as possible.

    #2 will be born in March/April when #1 is 21 months. We have a convertible crib, but we bought a cheapo toddler bed and the convertible crib will stay with #2. 

    #1 is already sleeping on a cot in daycare and doing quite well. We plan to move him to the toddler bed about a month before #2 is due, then keep her in the PNP for the first few months. He can always go back to the crib temporarily if there's issues.

    I'll echo what it looks like most others are saying - second crib. Mine are just about 21 months apart and having the second crib really took the pressure off of having to put DS#1 in a bed (like we need more pressure!). I also really appreciate waiting until DS#1 was 2.5 before we made the switch, I think it made the transition at lot smoother (granted, I didn't have a jumper). We will be doing the same when baby #3 arrives. DS#2 may be ready for a bed at that point, but I don't want to pressure him or myself with it.

    Is there any way I can close this thread? I had a miscarriage 2 months ago and it stings when I open the notification and come back to this thread.
