What's your all time favorite book that you would recommend

So it's a slow Sunday at work and unfortunately I'm here for 15 hours today basically sitting on my ass. I've been looking online to order a couple books to read during the winter because this is the slowest time of year. So I thought I'd ask for your recommendations on any books I should check out.

Favorite pregnancy/parenting book?
Favorite non-fiction book?

Pride and Prejudice. I read it every year.

We read baby the Baby Lit versions of Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility this morning. They're so sweet!

OP, I'd recommend Arcadia by Lauren Groff if you want some really excellent fiction. If you're looking for a page turner, try Tell No One or The Eight. I also enjoyed Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walters. It was a bit fluffy but very readable.

*Edited, because words are tough today.

    Agreed! Such a good book.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • My suggestion is fiction also, but She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb is my favorite of all time.

  • @somewheresublime86‌ @missab @lovemymuttzillas @thefitzfam thanks ladies! They all look so good I can't decide lol
  • Some of my favorite non-fiction books:
    Tipping Point - Malcolm Gladwell
Half the Sky - Nicholas Kristoff and Sheryl WuDunn
    Factory Girls - Leslie Chang
Guns, Germs and Steel - Jared Diamond

  • Read Unbroken before Angelina Jolie potentially ruins it as a film. The Book Thief is my fiction recommendation.
  • Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. There is a whole book series(that is still ongoing.) plus the tv series just came out this year on Starz, though it doesn't follow the books totally in order.

  • Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy...this book is hilarious it's also a little Crude so if you get offended easily don't read it, but if you have a sense of humor then you'll love it!

This is what I came in here to suggest.  Love it!
  • Expecting Better - Emily Oster

Listen to the Squawking Chicken: When Mother Knows Best, What's a Daughter To Do? A Memoir (Sort Of) - Elaine Lui

    On Beauty - Zadie Smith
  • Non-fiction? That's a rare request! If you like non-fiction I'd suggest Unbroken or Shadow Divers
  • My all time favourite read (although fiction) is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
  • A piece of cake by cupcake brown. Love this memoir so freaking much.

  • 1) The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. It's sort of an either you LOVE it, or you hate it. I've come across few who have truly hated it.

    2) Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore - the story of Jesus from the age of 6 until the crucifixion as told by his horny BFF, Biff. It's irreverent, hilarious, and truly touching.

  • Favorite parenting book: The Baby Whisperer

Favorite non-fiction: Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke
  • I honestly haven't read any parenting books yet so my contribution will have to be fiction:
    - pride and prejudice (I'm glad to see it's so popular here!)
    - any book by Kurt Vonnegut
