My SIL is driving us batty! NBR

Hi ladies,

Sorry to keep posting about my problems with SIL, but this one's so petty and dumb...OK, background: we share a house with DH's brother and his wife and kid, each family has their own story of the house.  We share some expenses, lke when the house had plumbing problems and we needed a guy to come dig up the front yard, or when we needed a new roof. Big ticket items, and that's fine. 

There are so many other little expenses with running a house, though, like furnace filters and salt for the sidewalk, etc. DH and I don't keep track of the little things, we just buy them and that's that.  SIL, however, nickles and dimes EVERYTHING.  She recently gave DH a bill for what he "owes" her.  I'm not sure what items are on the list, because DH never got far enough to tell me.  He was too distracted by the fact that SIL calculated the interest we owe her on one item.  It's 33 cents.  DH built our fence and back deck, redid the driveway, redid the garage floor so their suite wouldn't flood, etc, and never charged them.  But heaven forbid we owe them 33 cents!!!!!

No real point other than to say, ugh, family.

    That's ridiculous. That would really bother me. My IL's can be very irritating too, it sucks.

    You guys should start a joint house account and each donate equally to it each month and rotate responsibility for the payments on a quarterly basis.

    I would start adding up the things that you guys buy and pass on their bill to them.

    I'd probably do the same as mishka because that would annoy the hell out of me. 33 cents interest? Really? But I do like caladpi's idea.

    That is probably the dumbest thing I've heard. But I'd probably give her the 33 cents... Of the bathroom floor! (Except then I'd have to touch it too...)
