Cloth Diapering

Diaper sprayer and Reusable CD Liners Question

Hi all, I have two (probably stupid) questions about diaper sprayers and liners...
DS is about 3 and a half months old and wears Bumgenius 4.0s and Freetimes with Bumkins liners (which I cut in half).
We've been in CDs fulltime since he was 4 weeks old, so I'm still a bit of a newbie.
Today we had a particularly nasty sticky poop episode... the liner (which usually catches most of the poop) didn't help much in this situation, and I found myself struggling with what to do with the poop that got on the diaper.

First question: Do most of you use the diaper sprayer? Is it worth it?

Second: Are reusable diaper liners a thing? Would it make sense if I made some flannel rectangles to put on top instead of the Bumkins?

Again, I apologize if there are very obvious answers to these questions-- I'm just getting the hang of everything!
Thanks!

  • Wait, 3.5 months. So your kid is still ebf/eff? Just throw it in the washer. It's water soluble. You don't have to get rid of poop until they start solids. And yes, you can make reusable liners out of micro fleece and it will also give a stay dry feel. That's what we use.
He is EFF but he's on rice formula and recently started prune juice. So his poop just became a little more gross to deal with.

  • The thing about reusable liners is that you'd still need to spray the poo off of it.

We use a sprayer at home, but use liners if we're on vacation or if Daddy is watching the LO for an extended amount of time (he won't spray them).
  • I use a sprayer. I tried scraping and it was awful. I have liners but rarely use them since I can spray. Definitely recommend!

  • We use a sprayer.  They are totally worth it IMO.

Reusable liners are mainly used for wetness sensitivity or to give baby a more dry feeling.  They would still need the poo to be sprayed/removed.

Disposable liners are used to make clean up easier.  Sometimes they work great.  And sometimes they bunch up and the poo doesn't stay on them.  It all depends what brand you get.  We used them before we got a sprayer.  We ended up getting a sprayer.  I didn't like having to buy the liners all the time.  And since I didn't know when LO was going to poo I had to put them in every diaper.  I would probably get liners if we went on a vacation though.
