Slings for infant bucket seats in restaurants, yay or nay? I don't even remember being offered one with V, and the past 2 times we've eaten out they offer it. The first place made it sound like it would click in, but that could potentially damage the seat, right? Like on shopping carts. Tonight it was just a strap that would go across. I tried to ask for a booth, so I could just set G on the inside, but they said no high chairs in booths.

I put G on the floor the first time in spite of everyone pressuring me otherwise. Tonight even DH was saying to use it, so I did. He thought people worried about Illinois or dropping something on G ifhe'll were on the floor. But in retrospect, I don't see how that keeps anything off of him. The poncho has a hole, and then I cut 4 notches to make it easier to get over his head. He has a big head. Would that b similar to the v nck idea?
We always sat the carrier on the booth seat next to one of us, on a chair pushed up to the table, or left clipped on a stroller (if room enough).
The poncho that can slip over his head wouldn't worry me.

Like I said, with V no restaurant ever offered. G is not even 3mo yet, and the last two times we've gone out they've offered the sling. They even kept pushing it when I tried to decline it. I don't know if it's jus because we have a toddler in tow too, or what, but I don't see how it made anything easier or better.
