Troubles gaining weight

Hello ladies!
I'm on my way here in a few days to 19 weeks! Before becoming pregnant I weight 98lbs at only 5'2.
Now I'm 18 weeks & 3 days today Nov. 15, and I weight 102lbs.
WHATS GOING ON?
I've always had a very fast metabolism & always have had a hard time gaining weigh now at 20 years old.
Any tips on gaining weight fast or just some similar stories? I'm really concerned that I'm not providing enough energy or fat to my baby.

  • Yikes! I know you're not posting this right now?! I'm under fire in another thread! Ask your doc and you'll be told if you're on the right track. Everyone is different! GL.

  • This has been discussed countless times. A google search or a search of this board would have given you answers.

Your doctor will let you know if they're concerned about your weight gain, and will tell you how to fix it.

You weren't under fire because you haven't gained weight, it was the fat cow part
Yes, I know that. Did u see I apologized?
  • Well I've heard eating makes you gain weight. Maybe try that?
  • This has been discussed before, but I'll be nice. If your doctor isn't concerned, you don't need to be. As long as you aren't skipping meals or exercising in an attempt not to gain weight don't worry, your body will do what it needs to do.

In the future, try the search function, people aren't super into this topic to begin with and starting another discussion likely won't go well.

  • I've only gained about 6 lbs, and I'm about a week behind you. So if you're naturally small it doesn't seem too out of line to have only gained 4lbs... I am 5'1 and started at 110. The other board about weight gain was interesting to see how all over the place everyone is, everything from gals losing weight because of ms, and others gaining more/less. I think as long as you're eating regular meals and snacks when you're hungry, it's probably just fine! Baby only weights about 8oz at 18 weeks :)
  • I lost 10 in the first trimester then gained 25 in the 2nd and 3rd with my last pregnancy. My doctor was completely no worried even though I was. Granted, I did have a small baby (5.5 lbs) but she's perfectly healthy. Don't worry too much unless your doctor tells you something.

  •   As others have said, consult with your Dr.  I would listen to your body too,  eat when you are hungry and make sure you are getting a good variety of foods, the rest should take care of itself.

Don't you worry,  I am 5'4" and barely broke 100 lbs at 20.   At 35  I was pushing 200 lbs BEFORE getting pregnant.... you will eventually become quite capable of gaining weight ;)    I have gained between 2 and 6 pounds at 16 weeks, depending on the scale I use.   Everyone is a little different.

  • This has been discussed many times before, I even asked about it a couple months ago. But when I asked my doctor about it (which you should do if you're super concerned), he said to eat lots of healthy fats. That's peanut butter, avocado, coconut oil, nuts, etc. I've still only gained 4 pounds but since my doctor isn't worried about it and my belly is getting bigger, I'm not worrying about it either.
  • I'm semi in the same boat only ive lost about 10-15 lbs. My Dr already referred me to a dietian and nutrionst and it hasn't helped much. I feel like I eat all day and still gain nothing (last two pregnancies had no problem gaining any weight) so my mom and friends think it's a girl (last two were boys). I hope you find a solution or some help and maybe share with the rest of us. :)
  • I was also concerned about my weight. I was only 102 when I got pregnant and have always been at 102 since before I got pregnant. I asked my doctor and they told me not to worry and I would gain soon. Because it's still somewhat in the beginning of the second trimester I had enough time to gain it.

I also know a lot of people that didn't gain any until the end of the 3rd trimester. It all depends on your body.
