Heart Palpitations

Before getting pregnant always had heart palpitations here and there. I have already seen a doctor about it and have worn the monitors and all that good stuff. They just said it's nothing to be worried over. (Iron vitamins seem to help). Anyway, anyone been getting palps pregnant? Worried...

    Not palpitations but I did have an arrhythmia one day, where my heart rate (for no reason) went to 180 and stayed there for 40 minutes even while laying down/resting. Scary. Was sent to a cardiologist and put on a heart monitor and all was fine. She didn't seem to think it was pregnancy related; just a fluke thing. If it happens again, she gave me three good to know tips (in case it ever happens to anyone here), try: coughing (hard); drinking an ice cold glass of water very fast; or pushing like you're constipated. Any of these should "shock" your heart back into self-regulating itself, apparently. If not, though, call your doc or even head to hospital immediately.

    Yes, I've had them. Freaked me the hell out the first time it happened. Dr said it was completely normal due to the extra blood volume, I have no preexisting cardiac issues.

    Trust your doctor. Perhaps anxiety attacks. I've had them before and they are awful. But when it happens and you are worried--my first inclination would be to call my doctor and not post here. Most of us are not trained professionals in the area. The only thing we can do is commiserate, sympathize, or refer you back to your doctor.

    Yes I had them quite a bit in first tri. I never asked my doctor about it because when googling it seemed common.  Now that I am further along they have stopped.
