Trouble TTC

N3TR Question for Ladies with PCOS

How do you deal with the random body hair? I always get wild hairs on my chin and I've noticed it more with fertility medications, I think I pluck them all but then I feel another huge one that seems to have just popped up. I'm nervous about waxing my chin, I don't want the peach fuzz to grow back dark, but I want to get rid of the dark hairs and long blonde hairs. I know it seems like a silly thing to worry about but I have gotten super self-conscious about it.

Re: N3TR Question for Ladies with PCOS

  • Electrolysis. I think people with PCOS make up a good proportion of their clientele. When I pluck myself, I end up looking worse. I can't say it's been a permanent solution like they promise though since I've been going for the same spots for years (back when I was on birth control). After going off BC my symptoms got worse, and I had another consultation recently. They thought the hairs were dark enough for laser. I went for laser for the first time last week. The crappy part about laser is they shave the area and then burn the roots. If you thought your face was unsightly before, now you've got burnt stubble pushing its way out for however long that takes. I hope that those hairs at least take longer to come back than that would if I had just plucked them.

  • I have a few stray hairs that suddenly popped up under my chin, and I just pluck. The good thing about the courser ones is that it seems like I can feel them growing before thy are long enough to notice and pluck again. Supposedly, if you pluck enough the hairs stop growing back ( which is why people who over pluck their eyebrows for years can end up not being able to grow them back). Hasn't worked for me yet, but I wouldn't worry about the hair growing back stronger.

  • @BlueFairy I've done the same thing! Before we starting TTC I bought a laser package at a medical laser hair removal place, not a salon one so it's REALLY expensive and normally takes about two years to complete the process.  I got suckered when I went for a consult about my chin hair and ended up also buying bikini and underarm.  Anyway, I'm about halfway through my treatments and it's actually working amazingly well.  The only problem is when we started TTC in earnest I started cancelling/rescheduling/putting off appointments so they would only fall right after my period.

That reminds me, I'm several months behind and should probably call and try to get in at least one more treatment before my medicated cycle starts...

Oh, and in between I rely on shaving, sadly enough basically every day...it's too much to pluck plus you're not supposed to wax or pluch the areas you're having treated with the lasers.

Impatiently Waiting CD1 to try again with Fermara Back on the bench due to giant cyst,
who know I'd ovulate on my own after a cancelled cycle and end up with a mega cyst :(
