weekend dr/nurse staff...suck!

Around here atleast.
yesterday, i began gushing blood. Clearly i panicked, because at 20 weeks you shouldnt be gushing blood. Mind you it was period blood colored. Not brown.
went in, got scolded because I didnt call them first. Oh my bad, i was scared. Then it became a brown flow, so then automatically, i was wrong and it was never red. Plus my pad wasnt soaked through. Excuse me? I came straight in as i noticed. I didnt just sit there for an hour waiting to soak through!
Then they look at my u/s pictures done on tuesday, listen to my little one's heartbeat and call it good.
ohh did i mention they asked if i called my doctor prior. No, i didnt. As if i have his direct number, they would of given me a nurse in the ob who would of said come on in anyways. Grrrr.
Anyone else find it odd they didn't rub labs!? I cannot wait to call my dr on Monday!!!!

    Maybe see if i have a bladder infection. Yeah, im probably overracting. I just feel like crap on top of this. I told them i thought i had a uti but well see if i can get a urine screen.

    It is scary when you bleed at all during pregnancy. I do agree with everyone else. Slightly overreacting, gushing blood would be filling a pad. Also there is a line of communication you go through when dealing with after hours/weekends issues. I hope your feeling better now.

    I started bleeding when I was about 12 weeks. I waited about an hour, monitored it, and then called the answering service for my midwife. The midwife on call called me back in less than three minutes, told me what to look for, when I should go to the ED (she would meet me there if it got to that.) it was a very calming experience.

    I will say working in an ED, the first question I would have asked would be if you called your doctor or midwife?

    As someone who works in an ambulatory clinic with extremely ill patients, it is IMPERATIVE that you call us before you come in. It isn't because we're shitty practitioners -- we may not be equipped to take you in if you're a true medical emergency (for example, patient is coughing up copious amounts of blood -- don't come to our clinic, GO TO THE ER) or it may not be a real emergency (for example, a patient calls in to say that he has severe shortness of breath and it turns out he's having a panic attack for which he just needs to take one of the Xanax we've already prescribed to him). If you just show up, we aren't going to be magically prepared for what ails you.

    I'd say to get your doctor's cell number, set it to number 1 on your phone.  Next time you find yourself panicking and on the way to the office, make the call.  I'm sorry you felt judged and unheard.  Sounds like it was a rough day for you.  But, if there is a next time (God forbid), you will follow the procedure (of which you are now aware).  The staff may have been a bit rude, but looking at it from their end, it may have seemed obvious to call ahead.  They may have been acting on the thought that you were being rude.  Misunderstandings across the board..  It happens.  It definitely sucks extra hard when you are already in a state of panic, but none-the-less, it happens.  Grudges only cause yourself anguish.  Deep breath, try to let go, move forward, and best wishes!

    I find with everyone I see they drill in to me any cramping or blood (small or large amounts) you need to be see that day as a emergency. But when things actually happen they seemed piss with you that you have even bothered them with something. Bleeding is very scary when pregnant, I hope everything is ok now.

    You think doctors are handing out their personal cell phone numbers to patients?  LOL. 
    My doctors have both given me their numbers.  I thought this was common.  hmm..
