Contractions question

I am 40 weeks and 5 days and I have been contracting every 6-10 min for the past 48 hours. Majority of the contractions are painful. I visited the hospital 48 hours ago and they said I was dilated at a 2 and they sent me home and said to come back when my contractions are every 3 min. At this point I don't know if I'm gonna get there. I can't decide whether I should go back to the hospital or hang around at home in pain.

    I made the hospital admit me when my pain was too much for me. I said if they sent me home I would just come right back. But, my contractions were 4 mins apart. Are you far away from the hospital?

    6-10 minutes for the past 48 hours? I would be running to the hospital if I had contractions that long.

    I think you should go in and have them recheck you!! It's what they're there for!!

    Ugh I sympathize, the hospital sent me home and told me to go back when my contractions were every 5 minutes. Well they never actually developed a pattern throughout my whole labour. I went back after another 12 hours and was 4-6 cms dilated and my contractions were from 5- 10 minutes apart. They admitted me and even then they still varied. I would go back!
