Watery discharge 26 weeks?

So...I'll try not to be super graphic about it but this morning as I was doing my makeup I noticed that I had a little more discharge than usual and it's actually watery. I googled some stuff to see if it's normal and I found out it COULD be amniotic fluid so naturally I'm a little bit shaken up. Should I call my doctor or have any of you guys experienced this as well? Please help I'm scared lol

  • Call your doctor if you're that concerned. Some watery discharge can be normal. If it persists, feels like a gush or is a good amount you should call your doctor. It never hurts to be cautious in these instances so if you're still worried then you should call.

  • When is your next appointment? Like mentioned, it can be normal. I had/have that happen sometimes and I know it's scary! I mentioned it to my doctor and she didn't seem concerned. It could be the sign of an infection though. The good thing is that it's pretty rare to have a fluid leak. Hope everything is alright!!

  • I've heard people suggest laying down for a bit then getting up and see if you get more discharge bc that could mean a leak.

  • I had this around 22 weeks. I was walking and felt a small gush. I went to the bathroom and my underwear was wet as were my pants. It was watery, not thicker like normal discharge. It was also definitely not urine. I was worried and called, I happened to have an OB appointment the next morning. They told me if it was a leak of amniotic fluid it would continue, not stop, so they said to wait and see if I get anymore. I did not, totally dry after that. At my appointment the next day they did do a test for amniotic fluid and it was negative. I don't really know what it was, it hasn't happened since, but for me it turned out to be nothing. If it were me I'd probably still call, better be safe than sorry, but just know that it definitely could be nothing.

  • I asked my dr about feeling a little more wet than normal and when I should be worried about leaking amniotic fluid. She said if I ever think I might be leaking fluid, go to L&D, don't wait for my next appt. Better safe than sorry.

I'm glad everything turned out ok for you and LO!
