High Risk Check-In 11/14

Hello ladies!
How was your week? I passed out in the stairs on Sunday, turns out my orthostatic hypotension is getting out of control. I had bloodwork done to see if I'm anemic and check my blood levels. No results yet. But I'm pale, dizzy and weak. Yuck.
Appointment coming up this week is the next ultrasound on the 20th! Can't wait to find out the sex of this little uterus hijacker. I am terrified to know how short my cervix is though. I really hope it's long enough for me to keep working.

GTKY: What are you reading for pleasure, if anything? I'm reading the Game of Thrones books again, but I also have Doomed by Chuck Palahniuk on the go.

Edited because it's early.

Re: High Risk Check-In 11/14

  • My week has been horrible! On Monday I had my 20 week OB appointment and A/S and my OB said that my genetic screening blood work had came back and that she had tried to call me on Oct 31st but couldn't get ahold of me. My heart sank! Turns out after the ultrasound (combined with my blood work results) the baby has a 1:40 chance of Down Syndrome. So we now have a level 2 ultrasound on Dec 2nd to get a better look at all the soft markers again and then need to decide if we are going to get an amnio done or not. I don't think we are going to opt for the amnio (Harmony test isn't an option, it's not covered by our provincial healthcare), we wouldn't terminate because of it so why take the risk and just read and try to prepare in the case that it happens. I'm trying to be optimistic, s/he has a 39/40 chance that everything is just fine and we would love our baby no matter what!
And then to top it all off, my grandma died yesterday. So I'm SO ready for this week to be OVER!

GTKY: I have 2 books on the go right now. Ina May Gaskins Guide to Childbirth (which I had read when I was pregnant with DS1) and then The Help, which is just a fun easy read.

  • @knjzacher‌ I really hope everything gets figured out. Take it easy, lady!

This week was the pits. My lovenox was upped to 50mg/BID but at least I'm now in high therapeutic.

Sunday I ended up at the local L&D (my hospital is quite a distance away) due to some mild cramping. I knew it was because I was dehydrated but my doc wanted me to go get checked anyway. Everything was fine. Got to see the baby having the hiccups, and i took it easy for the rest of the day. I've been diligent about my water intake since.

I saw my OB on Tuesday for a 16 week check and he told me that I needed to reduce my stress. This was after I broke down sobbing to him about everything going on. H and I have been fighting horribly and Sunday's event certainly didn't help anything. There is other stuff that I put in my WTF Wednesday post.

Anyway, I'm currently re-reading for the billionth time the Great and Terrible Beauty trilogy. It's YA but it's mindless and entertaining.

  • @Tyrion‌ that sounds kinda scary, but reassuring your doc said your heart is strong enough to support this pregnancy. Kinda reassuring? Thinking of you!

@DixieNormous330‌ your week sounds brutal! Relax this weekend. I hope things improve with your H

  • Thanks all. I appreciate the hair pats. I really hope things ease up for everyone here who needs the break.

@babykells3 I'm going to PM you with a friend's blog that might be helpful for you.

  • Can I start chiming in on these? Looks like everyone has a variety of health things! I'm personally a T1 diabetic with a complicated 1st pregnancy (bedrest, preE, early induction) and I have a shortened cervix now along with a family history of heart defects. This pregnancy is going very well, all things considered, minus continual insulin and blood glucose challenges. My AS is coming up soon and I'm anxious to see how my cervical length is doing and to see the baby's heart structure. I'm definitely struggling with anxiety and am having 1-2 dreams a week about bedrest and this baby coming early too. Ack!
