Cloth Diapering

I'm confused by Moraki AI2

Ok...so I'm confused and I'm hoping someone can help clear this up?
I have a Moraki diaper which they say can be used as a pocket or an AI2.  I totally get how the "pocket" use, but I'm confused as to how it's an AI2 when it's got the fleece interior.
I've tried using it as a cover over prefolds and fitteds, but it just looks way too bulky.  As in the cover is too bulky to be a cover.
So is this diaper *really* an all in two, or are they just fooling themselves (and me)?

I've decided to put it into the rotation as a pocket for now, but it seems like an awfully expensive pocket to me.

Re: I'm confused by Moraki AI2

  • I haven't used theirs, but I do think it's a marketing trick to try to get more people who are stuck on one style or the other to buy their brand. You can turn just about any of them into an AI2, but they will be bulky.

  • It's not bulkier than stuffing, just bulkier than say a flip or capri or whatever.
  • Any why would it be bulkier than stuffing? Can't you use the same thing?
It shouldn't be, but they do seem to look bulkier as a cover than pocket. I think it has to do with the gap the pocket part already makes then you're pushing the diaper out more putting the soakers next to the butt. At least from the ones I've seen it's just air the smushes out when the baby sits or is held. More like an illusion. A bodysuit will also compress the extra looking fluff.
  • How bulky an AI2/cover is depends on what is being used for absorbency. Some of the AI2 inserts are trim and somethings, like prefolds are bulkier.
