Everything goes in the mouth?

edited November 2014 in May 2014 Moms
I remember DD1 at this age would put all the things in her mouth all the time. DD2 still isn't putting anything in her mouth. Is this normal? Does your LO mouth everything?

  • Yeap everything goes in the mouth and same problem with trying to keep animal fur of stuff. We have a fairly fluffy cat. He also tries to eat his straps every time he goes in the car seat

  • DD also lunges to try and chew on things (like dad's face or the carpet or my work bag). Nothing is safe!

  • Damn. Wasn't expecting such clear cut results! I hope it isn't a sign of anything serious that she isn't mouthing things yet. Must resist asking Dr Google!

If you are worried, ask your pedi. Getting things into their mouth is a developmental milestone, so the pedi should know when it should have begun.

Yup.  I think this is worth a discussion with your pedi.  Google is evil. Resist the urge!

Yes, will definitely talk to the pedi about it. Her 6 month check up is Friday. Thanks!

  • Like others have said, DD puts everything in her mouth. She finds putting my face in her mouth hilarious. I like to think of it as kisses.  :-*

Yes - my kid grabs my cheeks with both hands to steady herself, then lunges forward and chomps on my nose. She has a strong jaw - good thing she doesn't have teeth yet!
