Insomnia

Anyone else having trouble sleeping? My MIL came over to watch the baby while I took a nap. I laid awake for two hours. Then, my husband took the baby when he got home, gave him a bottle of pumped milk, I pumped and went to bed just so I could lie awake for another four hours! That's six hours of sleep I could have had - now im just exhausted cuz this has been going on for four days. I'm just so anxious when I know I need to sleep.

Also, interviewing nannies this weekend then taking LO to FL for a week. How do I get rid of the stress?? I get super anxious when I know I have to take him somewhere which is totally insane cuz I know no one gives a shit if he cries or if I have to nurse him. Plus, my house is a disaster which I know is normal but it gives me anxiety anyway. Anyone else have these issues or am I just insane?

Re: Insomnia

  • Exercise usually helps me. Maybe try some exercise and go get a massage or something. Sounds like the stress is keeping you awake. Drinking also helps. :). I don't feel guilty for having a drink in the evening.

  • I'm no help with the stress part.  I'm tightly wound myself.  I still get anxious about taking LO out.  I will NIP if I have to, but I prefer to avoid it, and I dread the thought of LO having a meltdown in public and not being able to calm her (she's a loud crier, and she still cries a lot and can be very difficult to soothe).

I have some trouble sleeping, too, and it's so frustrating when you miss a good sleep opportunity like that.  I was much worse with my first DD; I would lie there awake with my brain just buzzing a mile a minute.  It'll get better with time.  Anyway, I guess I have no advice, just commiseration.  You're not insane.  Or you are, but so am I.

  • I've always had trouble sleeping what works for me is staying away for caffeine after 5pm (or 4 hours before I'd like to be sleeping) and running. After I go for a good run I sleep like a rock. I also take melatonin, but I couldn't take it while pregnant and am nervous to take it at night with two little ones take I just woke wake up if they need me.
  • Me too! LO goes to sleep and I'm wide awake. It doesn't help knowing that I need to be asleep because she could be awake at any moment.
  • I really need to take advantage when my husband is home and get to the gym - I'm just always so tired obviously lol vicious cycle. I've been trying to get used to nursing him in a ring sling so it'll be easier to NIP but he seems to hate it...he prefers to have the option to kick and scratch me while he nurses :P
