September 2012 Moms

It's a boy!

For those not in the s12 fb group or didn't see on IG. It is in fact a boy! We are so excited! DH just keeps texting me names. He is over the moon.

I'm excited to start looking for boy stuff! Realistically I'll use G's receiving blankets and stuff maybe a few new ones for him.

Anything I may need for a boy that I'm not familiar with?

Re: It's a boy!

  • Congratulations!  What exciting news.  :)

  • I totally missed this on IG.  Congrats!!

And peepee teepee is the first thing that came to my mind as well. Ha!  You shouldn't need anything really different for boys that you used for G, and ours boys even have a few pink baby items and never even noticed.  ;)

    What names are you thinking?

    Big Kid Jan 2010

    Littlest Man Sept 2012

  • We are liking a lot of older names.

    Hollace(hollis?)
    Jedediah
    Claude
    Clive
    Willard (I'm not a fan)
Harman (DH likes this means man of the army)

I like traditional but for some reason they just don't feel right. We have William Roberts on my side of the family and Roberts and Williams on DH'S side but I can't see closing one or the other (William my dad and Robert fil) so I think we may just stay away from them.

Congratulations! He only think I can think of is if you decide to circumsise, you'll need vasolene and gauze.

Congratulations! And this is what I was going to suggest, too!
  • Congratulations again!

    I love the names!

  • Congrats, little boys are the best! But I will say, DS was a mess compared to DD.  I am not sure if it was gender or not but he pooped constantly, peed during every diaper change (in the beginning), spit up for 10 months, so though he's super happy and sweet, he definitely was more of a challenge than DD!

  • Yeah congrats! Boys are so much fun! Be prepared for everything having a motor :)

I don't think you'd need anything specific for him vs G. However I'd also suggest vaseline. We never used the gauze for circumsition. I'm not sure why. Our hosptial just said a shit ton of vaseline. They stuff they gave us in the hospital ran out quickly. I found the best was the Up and Up brand at Target. It's in a squeeze tube (much softer and plyable than vaseline). It's has yellow writing.

  • I really wanted another girl. But I am happy to have one of each now. It's amazing how many people expect you to stop now that we have each. I'm not sure I want to. I'd like to take it one kid at a time. See how we feel after this one. DH even said with the amount you complain with one why would you want 3? Which kind of hurt because G is at a hard stage. I feel like i have the right to complain. I'm with her all day every day and it's hard. Doesn't mean I don't want more. And by the time we had a hypothetical 3rd G could be in kindergarten. I know I don't need to think about it yet but I am.

This depends on the type of circ they do.

Remember to always point it down! And toss a wash cloth over him every time you change his diaper for the first month.

Love the name Hollis. It has been on our list too.

Every diaper change where I thought "I'll be quick enough this time!" I ended up soaked in urine.  This is good advice!

  • Apparently my child was the only boy who didn't pee at every diaper change. I think he did once!

AJ never pee'd at diaper changes either. Like you, it was maybe once. He's not circ'd though, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

@pokedot - That was Brody, he never peed on me.  Aedan did it every.single.time.  He felt the need to make up for his older brother.

My boys didn't do it much but I was glad it was covered when it did happen.

  • Congrats! I agree about the ointment & pointing down. Other than that, babies are all the same I think, lol. I would get new burp cloths, wash cloths, bottles/nipples, etc...stuff that I'd want to replace regardless of being a boy or girl.

  • I saved bottles. Is there a reason not to reuse them? I gave my burp clothes to my brother. I don't think I'll get them back.

I think you are supposed to replace the nipples

I would use the same bottles but I agree I would replace the nipples (did you save the nipples after you went up sizes anyways?)

you might want new burp cloths anyways - our were gross since DS had acid reflux

and I do agree with the previous posters who say boys love their mommas, mine is always giving me hugs.

  • I like weird(ish) names. DH does not. So names like Hawke + Grey are ones I like, along with Harris(son) and Geoff.
