Am I actually going to check in the day this is posted? Woot!
1. Successes/Celebrations
Got through our quarterly training cycle here at work. Everyone met competency, the evaluations were good, and we're done for another 3 months. It's one of my favorite parts of my job, but it's incredibly draining and I find it tough to be "on" as a mom afterwards.
MH has been working a ton this week and LO and I are getting along pretty well on our own in the evenings. I had yesterday off due to lack of childcare, and I got in a nap! ;-)
2. Challenges this week?
MH and I haven't seen much of each other this week, and when we have, we've been pretty snippy with each other. He'll make an offhand "critical" remark (like when he asked three times if I was SURE the dishwasher had dirty dishes in it... yes, I'm sure, I'm the one who emptied it this morning!) and I get frustrated because I'm managing the best I can as a one woman show right now. I know it's not fun for him either to be working so much, it's not like he's off having a ball while I'm holding down the homefront, but it just gets annoying to have him come in and make comments after the fact. He apologized this morning for being critical, so that helped, I'm just not sure he ever really "gets" what it takes on my end to support his work... when I have a full time career, too!
3. Me/Family Time?
The aforementioned nap yesterday was a fab me time moment. Family time has been a struggle because of MH's work, hoping this weekend is a little less out of control.
4. Weekend plans?
MH's aunt and uncle are visiting from ME, so we're heading to his parents at some point tomorrow. I'm really hoping to get some cleaning done on Sunday, all our floors really need to be cleaned.

@mummypig, have so much fun this weekend! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little jealous of your get together this weekend!
@anji1820, no, you need not say more! I loathe report card week! It's just so much extra work on top of still doing our job of actually teaching the kids! I hope you are more organized than I was this time around and can knock them out quickly and enjoy your weekend!
@paulheath, welcome to the check in! Going back to work is so hard! I hope everyone in your house is feeling better soon and you all can enjoy some time together this weekend!
@suzyqq02, DH and I go through times like that, where it's like neither of us can do anything right and we pick at each other. It stinks, but luckily it is *usually* short-lived and we can move past it. I feel like it usually happens when we haven't had any real time together. Like, when all of our interactions start revolving around the kids, the housework, the bills, and nothing much else. It usually takes a night off from all of that to snuggle and watch a movie, or play a game together, or something to kind of "reset" things for us. I hope that you two are able to get some time together to reconnect in a more positive way.
Made it through another week...9 month wellness check on Tuesday and DS2 did great. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving Break b/c my parents are flying in.
2. Challenges
I ditto CHORES...I can not figure out how to get anything done besides picking up toys, watching bottles and emptying the dishwashing every other day.
3. Me/Family Time
Last Saturday I took the boys to the zoo and I was super proud of myself. DH works Saturdays so I usually stay home so it was good of me to get and do something
4. weekend plans?
nothing special and that is good with me, I am looking forward to a low key weekend
1. Successes/Celebrations We went to M's 9mo wellness check on Tuesday, baby boy is super tall, he gets that from his dad.
2. Challenges this week? M rolled off the couch this morning, and possibly has a shiner and definitely has rug burn on his chin. Poor baby, Mr. Flightview was changing him and reached for the wipes and there went baby! Most challenging is trying to balance social events with work and family time. Most of the time I'm running out the door with M, leaving DH home. I feel bad, but he also has no interest going.
3. Me/Family Time? Lol. I try to read a few pages of a book before I fall asleep, and we always eat dinner together.
4. Weekend plans? Tonight is baby book club OR Veggie Tales at our local church, tomorrow is Christmas Bazaar, and Sunday is a memorial service, and yoga in candlelight in the evening? I'm not sure about yoga, I was invited by a co-worker. Maybe that can be my 'me' time. And of course Football in the AM, watching our Vikes beat the Bears at our favorite sports bar. (Every time we're there I think about Reese Witherspoon saying "You have a baby...in a bar...") but it's 9 am here when the game starts. That's ok right?
@dnmolakides, wow! Your LO is great in the water! DS (who is 4) won't even dive down to get a toy! This summer at swim lessons when they asked him to get a toy from underwater, he would reach down and turn his face so it stayed out of the water. He didn't pass #-o
Also, house hunting is so stressful! I hope you all find something soon and can put that behind you!
@nebraska84, good for you for getting out with both kids! I have yet to take both to the zoo or anywhere like that on my own, but I'm about to have a nice, long break from school, so it's bound to happen soon. Any tips for venturing out on such a trip with both kiddos?
@utpony, ((hugs)) mama. I know exactly how you feel, and have been there many times since DS was born 4 years ago. It is so hard to juggle everything. Sometimes, I feel like I'm doing great in one area but other areas are suffering. Other times, I feel like everything is falling apart around me. Take a deep breath, and definitely find yourself some time to step away from everything and relax a little. Then maybe you will feel like you can jump back in and make a plan to tackle one thing at a time. Sometimes just getting my kitchen table cleaned off (or some other small chore) can make me feel so much better!
@flightview, poor baby! Glad he is okay! We also always do dinner together, and because DH and I leave at the same time, it works out that we all get to have breakfast together, too. I truly cherish that time everyday, because sometimes it's all we get.
1. Successes/Celebrations Hmm, I successfully fed DD, DS, and myself all at the same time the other night. This is a success because I was spoon feeding both of them. It was a funny sight I'm sure.
2. Challenges DH works swing shift some nights so I have both kids by myself for the evening plus I don't get to see DH at all on those days. Especially difficult as both kids are getting over being sick.
3. Me Time- A benefit of DH working swing shift is that once the kids are in bed I get the place to myself and can do whatever I want. This week that's been bumping and online shopping. I don't really get me time where I leave DH with both kids and do something on my own. Maybe someday soon..
4. My sister is coming over tomorrow and bringing her granddaughter (her step daughter's kid) to play with DS. We don't know too many other almost 3 year olds so it should be fun but I really wish I was going to the SD gtg!
1. Successes/Celebrations - I made it through another week of 5a (or earlier!) wake ups thanks to LO1.
2. Challenges this week? Besides the early rise, MIL may not be watching LOs on Wednesdays any longer, so we're stressed about that. It's going to be a challenge for more than the week unfortunately.
3. Me/Family Time? Not much me time, tried to spend more quality time after work and less TV. Meh.
4. Weekend plans? Just usual housework/errands this weekend.
@ranfan05 --- tips for going out with both kids Try and pack the night before, the amount of stuff you need is insane! Pack back of up clothes for both. If you have a double stroller bring that along, DS1 is old enough to walk most of the time but it was nice having the option of putting him in the stroller so we could move quicker. Good luck
Success: One of the projects I have been working on is now running in the company. I am so proud because it was a very complicated project with a lot of moving parts. Challenges: The position I was told I would be promoted into in 2015 was eliminated this week. Now I have to realign my career path. I have definitely outgrown my position so now I just feel stuck. Me/Family Time: I didn't have time to do anything for myself this week. Schedules allowed us to have family dinner 3 times this week. Weekend: DS is spending the weekend with the ILs (by choice lol) and DH is working today. LO and I will tackle some chores and go to Target after nap time.
